I received my new HTC Desire today, and purchased a 1GB data pack for my 2degrees account, but I'm disappointed that I only seem to be connecting to the EDGE network, and not the 3g one - are there any settings I need to be aware of, or anything that I need to do on my end to ensure I get on to the 3g network?

Cheers.

Nope, but 2° only do 2100MHz so you have the same in building issues that vodafone have in the cities. Be glad you have edge and not hopeless gprs like vodafone deliver.

edit: fixed degree sign.

Hi
Check Mobile Network settings and select 'GSM/WCDMA auto', you may have it on GSM only.

If it's still a problem can you PM me with your 2d # and location?

Cheers

Outside those areas you're roaming on Vodafone's 3G 900Mhz network.

* I have the correct Desire version
* I am in a high-coverage area for 3g
* GSM/WCDMA auto is enabled

I have spoken to 2degrees and they are unsure as to why i'm only getting on the EDGE network. Frustrating but i'm sure a solution will be forthcoming from 2d.

I ported my vodafone number over, so that's not an option i'm afraid. I have used 3g at my current location on my old phone on vodafone previously.

Have you only tried this in a single location?

Can you force the phone to WCDMA? You still have your old 3G phone from vodafone to test the 2degrees sim in?
