richms: Are they doing the whole journey between AK and HAM? Would have thought that there would be a good case for doing hampton downs etc even if they leave the rest of the route roaming on VF.

I would've doubted this, as i imagine the volume of calls on the motorway via what should technically be hands free kits isn't particularly high?
Plus advertising it a broadband zone would seem kind of pointless, though i suppose for people using stuff like google maps on the go it helps, but it wouldn't be a large volume of data as a guess.

There can't be many more sites left to build, just a case of tuning them all now I spose

There's already a vodafone tower there, but located on top of a streetlight. They must've used one close to this.

Noticed someone up the VF Nawton tower installing new panels this evening, the microwave link at the bottom is new also...looks like its going to relay via the 2degrees site at Nawton Mall

Going to go a bit off-topic here,

If you search the RSM database for the following:

MNW = Manawatu (Palmerston North) and Wanganui Tower Locations
BOP = Tauranga and Rotorua Tower Locations
HKB = Hawkes Bay Tower Locations
WKT = Waikato and Taupo Tower Locations
NTH = Northland (Whangarei)
STH = Southland (Invercargill)
OTG = Otago (Queenstown and Dunedin)

Bartender if you read this, any chance you could re-run the 2degrees KML files based on the backhaul frequencies ?

I'd love to know the step by step process of what you're doing to get the KMLs too.

I know I have been promising this for a while (go blame my employer for why I haven't been active Smile )

I'll zip up a lot of the files I used and try and get them up onto google docs here by end of this week.

I'll also re-run my export to try and get a new set of data including the latest 2Degrees microwave sites.
