1080p: Something like this (SMS & e-mail) has happened to two people that I know (different companies, some time ago) both employees had their contracts terminated as soon as possible by their employers after their actions were reported. That is the correct response to a breach of privacy, nothing less.

bit harsh given we only had one side to story, maybe we should wait before becoming judge, jury and executioner.

Hey people,

Thanks for the replies - this is not a fake story. I haven't come back because I've been busy - my best friend's getting married tomorrow. I am about to reply to 2DegreesCare.

I have not had any contact from the person since.

Edit: I've replied to 2DegreesCare. Hoping for a resolution!

Don't prepay sims you buy usually the phone number printed on the outside of the pack. So they may have not looked up any personal details on the computer, but just noted down the number from the pack when sold. But still sounds a little creepy still.

I'm curious as to why the person from the 2degrees shop would have been contacting you? I mean, what purpose were they trying to fulfill?

I meant, why would they be dumb enough to contact the customer like that afterwards? They know they would be putting their job on the line.

Unless it specifically said in his induction package "do not personally text female customers just so you can be friends" then I can assume he was making contact to be either "genuinely friendly" or "creepily interested". Either way I can guarantee it will be put to him in his Exit package.

This is quite possible. It is my impression young people who are used to making unsolicited chat contacts on facebook, twitter, smsfun, etc (where it is almost a norm for younger people) then transfer this behavior to ye olde regular world.

A similar example might be looking up and friending (or attempting to friend) a customer on facebook.

This behaviour is probably occurring in your organisation already but has not yet caused significant problems.

If your organisation does not specifically train and retrain to educate on this point, you will see it occur more often.
