andrewcnz: Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to www.mega.co.nz

Maybe a bit overloaded at 8.30 nz time on vodafone dsl.

Same with me on Telecom. Not a good start, no doubt the panic button has been pushed a few times by now.

Kim Dotcom tweeted this about an hour ago

"Wow. I have never seen anything like this. From 0 to 10 Gigabit bandwidth utilization within 10 minutes"

I can now access the site but registration is taking forever. Might give up for an hour or so

btrevarthen: A few of you have mentioned a desire for "in country" cloud storage.  I just wanted to mention that theCloud are launching HomeDrive at the end of the month.  This is fully encrypted and exclusively New Zealand based.  Also if you are on theCloud UFB or Broadband then there are no data-caps so no barriers.

I would be interested in people's thoughts regarding storage quotas and pricing as we are working through the final stages of pricing options now.

Bruce (owner of theCloud)

Depends what you're using to deliver it. If you plan on using your F400 then I'd say you're instantly going to be running into high costs compared to others like Mega who use a combination of 20TB 2u servers and some super micro storage servers.

If however its a fast enterprise solution vs a mass market offering then that all changes.

I'm going to back up all of my family photos on to it. Another back up won't go astray.

This is going to scare one or two people:

Welcome to Mega. Your 2048-bit RSA public / private key pair is now being created. To strengthen the key, we have collected entropy from your mouse movements and keystroke timings.

Probably a bit much information for some lol.
