Lol
I would state that the reason why you are asking for the salary amount is to see weather it is worth you leaving your current position, and you need a basic figure before you can consider it.

Assuming this is legit, she should be able to supply an indicative salary band (e.g. $50-75k). We do this to make sure the time of either party isn't being wasted.

Exactly a salary band is all that I was after and the bits after user numbers and whether it is a cisco infrastructure she could have just forward an email to the relevant party.

It just bizarre how reluctant/lazy she was in giving a currently employed person a reason to make the switch.

However, she did exceptionally well in explaining the obvious like she works in HR, salary is based on skills and experience and job applications should go through their website (twice!).

At the end of the day, I didn't ask for this. She approached me and then she sounds like she have no time for me. Perhaps she is some kind of HR bot that do automated response.

And the part that annoys me most is knowing that I actually helped pay her salary through my rates to the council. argggh!

I've basically had the similar spiel from any HR IT worker i've spoken with. Had a few approach me through Linkedin but never willing to give to pay bands, and tell me it will be discussed after the interview. No point interviewing if the moneys no good..

Well for some money is a secondary consideration.

Yes, but Bill Gates and Richard Branson already have jobs.

And? They might move for advancement opportunities or better working conditions or a change in focus, or closer to home...

I'm tending to that conclusion, the responses don't answer any of your questions directly, just serve up pre formed responses such as "see the application website"

It didn't even touch on the whole Cisco question you raised.

Looks like a bot, quacks like a bot.....

I'm assuming by this you mean the few. Most people want to have an idea of how much they'll earn in a job before taking leave from their current job to attend an interview

Especially when they have been *approached* by that company to apply ... not cool to waste someone's time like that
