Oriphix: So I guess no one uses mega here? :P

I tried to sign up for it when it first launched but couldn't get sign up to process properly.

Just logged in and had a look around now. Looks pretty good too - yet another option for storing stuff online:)

Does Mega have a folder sync app? From what I can see it's limited to browser uploads?

They offer an API iirc which means there will be third party applications that do this.

I signed up for it and paid for a month of the premium service but never really used it as I need something closer to dropbox than rapidshare. May give it another shot now there are some apps showing up.

Interesting post. Yesterday I decided to try a clod back for my wife's laptop. Tried Google Drive but it kept giving "Sync error" apparently a common problem. Downloaded Insync client and that worked but slow as a dog. MS Skydrive is out as she has Win XP. Tried at work Just cloud. Seemed ideal but some very negative feed back about the companies credit card policy and tech support. Went to try Sugarsync but they was a CC number before you can do the 30 day trial. DropBox would be ideal but US$9.95 / month is more that she wants to pay and she has more than 2gig of files. But as I use DropBox at work it is winning so far..

joker97: How do you know your stuff will be safe or not stolen and won't vanish

Which is why you keep a copy on your own backup Hard Drive.
If security is a real concern, you wouldnt be using cloud storage that you have no control over.
Always a small risk involved , & one of the recent security breaches was caused by mind boggling stupidity & a absolute lack of real security by the (well known) storage provider.

That's why I have my local storage (for immediate use even when disconnected), a backup copy on the NAS (for quick access if I delete something), backup on Crashplan (for out of site storage), all this syncyhronised to Skydrive (where I can access if I am away from my laptop or tablet).

You have to think of a multiple approach strategy.

Copy.com is currently giving 15Gb free and 5Gb for referrals which add up fast.  I've earned an extra 240Gb by referring friends and family which already saves me over US$200 / year compared to Dropbox.
