Topic # 120950 19-Jun-2013 14:32

It's time to move on from WS_FTP Pro 8.0 - The program is now crashing when Windows EMET 4.0 is installed and I rather have a secure system than disable EMET. As this is the only program causing this, I am looking for a new FTP client.

My needs are simple: list local and remote folder in a split screen, easy copy from one side to another. And support for SFTP.

Any suggestions for a cheaper (or free) client welcome.

FileZilla ?

WSFTP is up to 12 now, so that could an good option. Version 8 must be many years old. I still use 7.5 which still works on windows 7.

I use CyberDuck, but this won't suit you if you need split screen mode. Apart from that I've used Filezilla and while the interface is a bit old fashioned (ugly) it's functional and should do what you need.

WS_FTP 8 works on Windows 7 and Windows 8, but not when EMET is enabled...

Yes, might try FileZilla now, thanks.

Have you tried wsftp 12?

My reason for still using wsftp, is that I have all the ftp details already stored in it, and you can back them up. I don't think filezilla is a good for that, and it is a pain to copy them across.

I use FileZilla or WinSCP, both work equally well.

Awesome

I only use one site really - Geekzone, and access via the VPN SFTP. Free is better and configuration is not a big deal because it's easy to manage a single site. If I had more then certainly that would be a deal breaker.
