Two years ago I purchased a LogMeIn subscription. I used it to do remote support for a family member. It was excellent for being able to remotely resolve whatever computer problems she had, such as unmuting the computer :-) Sadly she passed away so I no longer have a requirement for LogMeIn. Today I get an e-mail message telling me my two-year subscription was about to run out and unless I cancelled my subscription. Went online and tried to work out how to cancel my subscription. 10 minutes of frustration I couldn't see any way to cancel. So I thought I would delete my credit-card details. No can do!  This is not possible.

I resorted to changing my address to "CANCEL DO NOT RENEW".

I did an internet search on "LogMeIn subscription cancellation" and discovered a torrent of people in similar situations who were frustrated at being unable to cancel their subscriptions.  Support tickets went unanswered.  Some even resorted to cancelling their credit card in frustration.

I re-read the e-mail from LogMeIn and said, in small print, that I should call a US number if I wished to cancel my subscription. So I bit the bullet and luckily got through reasonably quickly.  The first question was "What is your address?"  LOL.  Anyway, eventually I was able to cancel my subscription - or at least I think I have as I have not received tthe promised e-mail confirmation of my cancellation.

I can't recall a more difficult process to cancel a subscription for anything ever than LogMeIn. It is appalling and surely w not be legal in any other jurisdiction that the US.  I know it is important for vendors to retain customers, but surely not by hand-cuff like cancellation processes.

I see that LogMeIn now own LastPass. Glad I went with 1Password after this expereience!

tl;dr - the only way to cancel a LogMeIn susbcription is to call a US number.

Yeah this is exactly why I cancelled my LastPass Premium the second they sold out to this lot. They have a _terrible_ reputation.

Couldn't you update the credit card details but get them wrong, so any payment attempt will fail?

No, because you can't change the credit card number or details on their site! They prevent you from doing that. Amazing really. I have never heard of anything so ridiculous.

The Experts Exchange web site is almost as bad for cancelling a subscription.
