Short version: can you recommend a web host that offers 1-2TB of storage, good support, and at least two cores for a moderate price? Ideally Australia.
I run a small side business that helps small businesses with websites and emails.
One of my occasional customers in Perth is an extremely high volume photographer. He has 1TB+ of images in his sales system, and will add 200GB this year. Having all of these images online and available is critical to his business, he regularly gets orders from older galleries.
His website is pretty poorly coded, using more CPU than it should. He's recently moved from shared hosting ($15/month) to a dedicated server ($180/month), really just because he needs the storage, not the CPUs. His website was hacked overnight, which is probably partly because he rarely if ever updates Wordpress. I'm working through that with him on and off to fix this, but he seems to want to try to do at least some of it himself. For now we need to mitigate this issue until the longer term fix is done.
I've looked at AWS for him (since I know a lot there and am well qualified) but 2TB of AWS disk is very expensive - he might as well get a dedicated server somewhere. I looked at S3 hosting for his images, but the software will need changes, and I'm not willing to support mapping disk to S3.
Can anyone recommend a web host that provides good support, is ideally in Australia, 1-4 cores (very bursty) that can provide 2TB of storage for a reasonable price? Dedicated server, VPS, shared hosting, it's all fine so long as it has enough disk space, CPU, and support.
