I have a software package that is installed via group policy, if I unlink the policy from an OU it will then uninstall on the next reboot.
Does anyone know how to "pause" a group policy object without uninstalling the software all together?

Don't have an AD server to test it now, but as I remember, you can specify inside the Group Policy if you:
a) want the software to be removed immediately when deleting the Group Policy; or
b) keep the software, but preventing further modifications (or something like that)
The forum's MCSE's will be able to answer it better.

Marlb,
Please see
Computer Configuration -> Software Settings -> Package properties -> Deployment tab -> Deployment Options section -> Uninstall this application when it falls out of the scope of management.
Set this to Disable, allow to propagate to clients, then you can set the policy object as disabled.
Hope this will help.
VEB.
