Wow, how long does it take to assemble 50 computers?  How many techs would you have to do that job?
Most I've done in one hit for a customer was 6 :(

I agree too that Synnex are way better than IM and I try to use them whenever possible.
Synnex just don't have a lot of the product that IM do.

Well theres, 4 of us here that can build computers which we will do over two weeks.

Now I wait for the Pallet of 50 Computers worth of partys and 50 22" LCD's

This is the Biggest Single Order we have done, With the previous biggest order being 33 from the same client.

I have to agree also, Synnex have much better service, but lack the Range IM have.

Have you guys logged in and looked at the Dove site?
These guys have the best service in the game and they have redone their site last week without it crashing.

Why is it that you are both posting from the same IP address, which also, coincidentally, is the main gateway for Dove? Nice try.

Astroturfing is not allowed here (read the FUGs) and it's also unethical to pass yourself off as an unbiased, independent reviewer.

Most wholesale companies have services levels well beyond IM.
Dove ARE better but it could never be said they are close perfect.

i guess the above is a good example.

I would have to agree, Ingram Micro's warehouse is too big, they can't get product out within their own timeframes. I've never seen a company take a 1 hour courier delivery and make it take 6 hours to arrive.

Datastor I'm consistantly impressed with, even if you order something around 3-4pm it arrives at 8-9am in the morning.

I think Ingram Micro are the bottom of the barrell in regards to service and delivery, but they have such a big easy to access barrell that it's tempting to just order everything through there and be done with it.

The Worm Turns ...

--snip--
2 March 2009

Dear Reseller Partner,

As you are aware, yesterday we launched our new Ingram Micro website. Many of you experienced performance issues on our first day with the new site and please accept my apologies for any inconvenience caused. We have a large team working 24 hours a day to support the launch and late on Monday they identified the issue which had affected the performance. The solution was rolled out and then load tested overnight. This morning I am pleased to report that the site has gained stability and we have seen a marked improvement in performance. We will continue to optimise the site over the coming days, and are expecting further performance gains as a result.

If you do experience any issues with the site, we have a team set up to help you. You can contact them on email (removed).

The new site is different but is very intuitive, and was well received by resellers during our pilot testing. There is significantly more information available than we displayed on the old site, and once familiar, I trust that you will find the new site a real benefit to your business. You will find that the new search filters will greatly assist you in finding what you are looking for more efficiently. We are also particularly excited about the new modules that are planned for release in the coming months that will take the site to an all new level and deliver you our partners a lot more value.

We appreciate your continued support during the launch and encourage feedback on what else you would like to see on the site (send to: (removed) or you can complete the survey on the site).

Thank you again for your business

Best regards,

Gary Bigwood
Managing Director
Ingram Micro New Zealand Ltd

This new site is completely useless. You can't even get a simple list of something like get a list of Cisco 2800 series routers due to the lack of any sub categories. Not to menion the fact that despite them saying they have fixed the speed issue it is still substantially slower than the old site.

Not only that but the shipping options when you place an order are incomprehensible. They are:
Standard Ground
Urgent Delivery
Second Day Standard Ground
Second Day Standard Air (since when did air freight in NZ take 2 days!)
Collects

Collects is easy enough to understand but what the heck do any of the others mean? I couldn't find any more info on the site either.

"You will find that the new search filters will greatly assist you in finding what you are looking for more efficiently."

So I'm looking for a D-link DWA-510 Wireless PCI card, I login to Dove, Synnex, Ingram, type DWA-510 into the search box, Dove and Synnex bring up the product no hassles, Ingram gives me the card bundled with an access point.  I spend 5 minutes drilling through the categories and then scrolling through lists that show no more info than the old website yet instead of showing 20+ products on the screen, only 4 products fit on the screen at a time.
Eventually find the product, Part number is DWA-510, description contains DWA-510, yet search couldn't bring this up?
I know people resist change but this IS a step backwards, I can't see how this could ever be quicker to navigate than the old site, bring back the plain text listings!

Who were these resellers that did the pilot testing??
They should be shot!
Just tried to log in and it took about 30-40 seconds!

Not really smarter, faster or easier IM!

Well if they put back all the old catagories then it wouldn't be so bad.

New ingram site is rediculous.. Im pretty sure its being written in india.

took me a good 30 minutes today to do today what would have taken 5 minutes in the old system..

and all our clients addresses for drop ship werent copied over..
and all the current quotes awaiting customer approval that were in carts need to be reloaded..
and its slow..
No past purchase history is viewable..
No way to view stuff that on backorder
and even on a 22 inch monitor you can only see 4.5 items per page
AND WHY THE HELL WASTE ALL THAT SPACE WITH ADS..

im a reseller.. i want to buy your crap already. stop trying to sell me extra crap via ads..

I think this may be their main revenue (from ads) as buying product is just too hard.

I wonder how many people contact IBM / HP direct asking for another wholesaler saying the 'official channel' is too hard to use.

Whoever designed the site never talked to any end users...

Couldn't agree with you more!  Ad space = waste of valuable screen space, I couldn't believe when I selected List View (instead of Gallery View) all that happened was the pictures disappeared.

Also, thanks to 'boby55', I hadn't heard of Synnex - I have already downloaded their app form and will be applying as soon as possible!  What other wholesalers are out there?  (Dove, Exeed, Renaissance, Express Data, Datastor, SnapperNet, Digicor, Computer Dynamics, Duo)

I'm guessing all the other wholesalers are loving IMs stuff-up!
