If anyone's interested here's a hwinfo of the 7" Vigo.

I'm finding it a good ebook/media/mail tablet if a little slow at times. Battery is good for 4+ hours medium use

I've ordered a $45US tablet off DX - 4-5" (cant recall) and no features at all but will be interesting to see how bad it is. have a use in mind which is it sitting on the table streaming an IP camera which it should manage without problems.

It may have great specs but Ainol's QC is somewhat of a hit and miss.

My first Ainol Aurora tablet was okay, but it had a bung hdmi out port.

The Flame/Fire I had purchased recently was riddled with issues, like dead touchscreen, speaker pop sounds etc.

Wow, those Ramos tablets do have good specs. Is there much noise out there about them?

Looks to be of pretty good quality overall according to the xda teardown.

I hope to track one down when I'm out that way in a few weeks time.

Hmmmm, those Ramos tablets smell a bit like vapourware to me but we'll see :)

Hopefully they aren't!

Paper Plus advertisment rag came in the snail-mail today.
I cant find this on their website. (I'm not affiliated with paperplus.)

They have their own branded tablet for $199

Zeus Octavo

7 inch Touch Screen
0.3MP front Camera
2.0MP back camera
8GB Flash Storage
Standard (non-proprietry) HDMI Output
1GB Ram
Android 4.0

I went into the store to have a look, got to handle one, but they didn't have one setup to try out.
When I was in there they provided a few more specs:

1Ghz ARM Cortex A9 Single Core
IPS Capacitive Touch Screen
450 Grams
3200mah Battery

I guess this competes with The (stationary) Warehouse Vigo tablets. It has double the ram, more efficient processor (should be similar speed?), double the flash storage, better camera?s, and slightly larger battery.

Looks alright, anyone got any more info on these? Im looking at getting Dad something like this so that he can check emails, read Kindle Books and skype.

Doing some searches on the goog I am assuming now it is a MediaTek MT6575 Soc? with PowerVR SGX531?
This is an educated 'guess' if anyone can confirm.

Doesn't look like a good deal when you could land a nexus 7 for ~$290-320

Cheapest Nexus 7 Ive seen was $330 for the 8GB.
Sure it has better specs, but it better for over 50% more cost. Honestly im not going to spend that much for someone elses tablet :C

One thing i quite liked was the industrial design.
Its thinner than the Nexus 7, and has really slim bezels compared to most chinese tablets.
Also it has physical buttons on the front of the tablet (side buttons annoy me bacause of accidental touches, volume rockers are tolerable if placed on sides).

Also paper plus had a 'full' range of extra accessories including:
Screen Protector
Carry Case
Silicone Bumper
PU Leather Case
Headphones
