dal: Anyone know if a 2 Degrees nexus 4 would have software updates slower than a google play nexus 4? Has there been any precedent in nz that might give a clue to this as far as nexus phones go? Cheer

I very much doubt that these phones are any different inside the box (other than a NZ power adapter) than the imported phones. There will not be 2degrees specific firmware.

I'll let you know when I buy one next week...

I'm very interested to see if these are differing from the play store versions.

the playstore would be 450NZD for the lowest shipping option with your freight forwarder + no tax + shipping from google to the US freight forwarder so you save $250

There are a few on Trade Me. Here's one http://www.trademe.co.nz/mobile-phones/accessories/cases-covers/lg/auction-542199043.htm

Thanks, just grabbed one off TM. I also have some Otterbox Pursuit cases coming for family members for the summer beach action.

Has anybody already got a phone that they purchased from 2degrees or The Warehouse? I'm curious to know if it's locked to 2degrees. I'm 99% certain it isn't, but I just received an email from The Warehouse saying "Thank you for registering  2degrees Nexus 4 Smartphone on our website" which has made me curious.

Nah, it wont be locked. 2ds don't lock their phones and it only says that because it comes with a 2ds sim.

Hi Bryce

I can confirm that this handset is in no way locked or even customized by 2degrees – it is a standard Nexus 4 with absolutely no changes.

Cheers

Thanks for such a quick response! Next question:
My N4 just arrived. How long should I charge it before use? I've read many differing opinions...

Just wondering does anyone know if buying the nexus 4 from 2 degree will mean we have to wait for 2 degrees to release any android updates or will we get them straight from google?

Read the post from 2degrees four posts before yours.
I got the latest update about 15 mins after turning the phone on for the first time.

I see the bumper is back in stock but US$20 plus freight and handling makes it a bit rich. Wonder if they will appear on ebay or TM soon?

Warehouse online selling 16gb for 699. 3 day delivery. Pretty solid option. Looks like LG are distributing the lions share of n4s at their price and goog only have a limited number.

My Nillkin case has arrived (finally) and I think that its definitely a nice case but not as grippy as I hoped for. I will probably go through a few cases on this device with the bumper hopefully being one of them.

Here are a few pics of the phone at its shiny new armor :)
