nzgeek:Elpie:DrStrangelove: VPN to Australia anyone? :-)
Doesn't work unless your phone is an Aussie one (or running an Australian kernel).
I had an Aussie SGS2 and could access their playstore from a VPN. Using the same account and same VPN with a NZ phone didn't work.
However, even though I had paid for books whilst in Australia, they were blocked as soon as I got back to NZ. Wouldn't trust Google not to do the same thing to music & videos.
Access to the Play store is controlled by the SIM card used in the phone. For devices that don't have a SIM inserted (e.g. WiFi only tablets) then it probably falls back to your IP address.
I'm certain about the SIM card thing because there are apps that trick the Play store into thinking you're on another network (e.g. MarketAccess). I've used one of these before to get at a free app that's only available in the US for now.
motorwayne: So, will "Marketaccess: work for play store music, Amazon music etc? It would be great to have full access to all of that sort of thing. Planning on rooting a new N4 etc if it will get me access.
