Got an email from Parallel Imported yesterday .  They must think people in NZ are stupid.  The have the 16 gig Nexus 4 for a mere $899  !!

You people are nuts paying $799 for the fone here in NZ.  By doing this your just supporting the retailers and telling them to keep ripping us off.

You should be directing you efforts to telling the likes of Google that NZ is a part of the tech 1st world not tech 3rd world.

Anyone know of Google NZ's contact details as they ignore you on G+ when you complain..

Regards,

You are right mate (just checked the customs website - damn it). In hindsight I should have declared US$313 (the extra $13 for the postage) and this should mean that I get pinged about $100 NZ for Duty. I must admit I read the Youshop declaration which i had to fill in as "what is your item worth in USD"... not even thinking about the postage!!

Just talked to NZ Post (online chat with Lynda) and she confirmed that I only needed to put the 'value' of the contents on the parcel - not the US postal cost - phew! Customs then take into consideration the NZ Youshop postage charge (in this case $17.25).

Does this help?

So do you get charged GST twice on the Youshop charge then? Once by NZpost and once by customs?

My invoice from Youshop has nil value for GST

Oh heck, you won't believe it - but The Warehouse / 2degrees have just sent me [b]a second Nexus 4]/b]!

Sheesh, obviously they don't keep very good tabs on what's been sent out, so if it doesn't arrive they send another one!

I know they're registered on here, and I'm a bit more honest than to keep a second $700 phone I've not paid for.

Now I'll just have to face on-hold hell while I try and explain what's they've done.

I'm still waiting on mine from the 27th! It's still listed as "pending", though I was given a 4-5 week ETA :|

Ouch, I hope you guys get some good news soon - it's an awesome phone. I was surprised to hear quite a few people have been able to walk into a store and pick one up, or even order it direct from 2degrees.

I would agree as well to this point. Google NZ should have opened up their shops and let us buy the devices from them directly here. I cant remember, but I think I did read a forum somewhere that since Australia and NZ are different regions, the laws that would apply for us getting content (movies, books, music etc) here would be different to the rules in Aus. I think that was the reason that someone stated that Google cant open up shop here.

Noel Lemmings in Wellington has a Nexus 4 on display!

Mine is still "held for clearance" at customs. Looks like no Xmas present for me!
