Correct me if I am wrong but other than a minimal number of proprietary apps the wp8 OS is virtually the same across all wp8 handsets, so other than hardware differences the user experience will be near on identical, unlike apple limiting functionality and android with its multiple OS's and manufacturers skins?

Have a look at this week's Harvey Norman flyer :

Motorola Atrix 2 on XT

Dual 1.2GHz
8GB Storage
1GB Ram
8MP Camera
LED Flash
4.3" Screen

$268 includes SIM

Bang for buck you can't go wrong.

freitasm: The HTC 8S Windows Phone 8 is out for $449 from both Telecom and Vodafone - that's cheap for a new device.

$409 from dick smith (ask for a deal me and another geekzoner got it for $380 from dick smith) and $399 from warehouse stationary

My Huawei IDEOS U8150 can have ICS (if I wanted it) [custom not stock o/c]

If you're a tinker-er you can't go past Android...

If you like to be lead around by the nose & have a ph that's the same as everyone else's - iOS or Win8 are your best bets...

PS - I have SGS2 running 4.1.2 :Bazinga:

I see it is $197 now and thats a great buy, apparently ICS upgrade is due but easy enough to flash custom rom. I've passed it on to a couple of mates looking for a cheaper android and the Atrix is good value given its not low end

I second this.. this phone does seem quite good and has gotten decent reviews.. i would consider moving to WP8, but I am heavily invested in android and iOS environments and dont think its financially viable to try my hand at WP8.

Having said that, the 8s is probably the cheapest WP8 that is out there.
