heavenlywild: I initially had to choose between 3 phones - the Sony Xperia Z, S4 and the HTC One.

Went to play with the Z at Sony. While the design looks awesome, the rough edges weren't to my liking. And to be honest, felt cheap, despite the premium design. Didn't like the fact that the back, home and menu buttons took up real estate on the screen.

I also didnt like that all the port were covered up for the sake of being water tight, i use my phone as an MP3 player at least 50% of the time  I dont want to be pulling off flaps 5 times a day thats why i decided not to get 1

True. How annoying having to deal with the flappy things everytime you want to plug anything in! Again, it's not thinking about the practical side of things.

I think Sony has confused practical with gimmick

A quick update on all the delay stuff.
My Clove order has just been dispatched. Wasn't supposed to be until tomorrow but it's now on the way.
Hope your Ones are on the way too.

Exciting stuff!

One other thing I want to add about the HTC One camera is that it should allow you to take photos in full sunlight without the subjects having darkened faces. That's one thing I find frustrating - it's a stunner of a day but when you take a photo, faces turn out as dark.

at least they are thinking about how we use our phones.

I think this is really important, it actually feels like they sat down and went, what gimmicks can we implement that people will actually want, and use

heavenlywild: I initially had to choose between 3 phones - the Sony Xperia Z, S4 and the HTC One.

Went to play with the Z at Sony. While the design looks awesome, the rough edges weren't to my liking. And to be honest, felt cheap, despite the premium design. Didn't like the fact that the back, home and menu buttons took up real estate on the screen.

The S4, while awesome, doesn't warrant - in my opinion - the price tag of $1149. The gestures feature is a gimmick. Who's gonna look nerdy enough to do those gestures in public? Sure, being able to automatically stop a video while you aren't looking is useful. On the other hand, does it really matter?

Down to the HTC One. Premium design and materials. The size, while not 5", may be the perfect size for everyday use. I currently own the Note 1.0 and over time found the size to be a hindrance. Love the big screen... dislike the bulk especially when putting it in the front or back pocket. One handed use is out of the question.

The camera is an important feature to me and as per Greaver's comments above, often photos taken with the mobile is in darker conditions. Gimmick or not, at least they are thinking about how we use our phones.

Anyway, also glad that I managed to pre-order off Noel Leeming today for under $800 - 20% discount. Awesomeness!

Noelleeming dont have it on their wbsite , i just checked. ?

You could still order it over the phone using the 20% sale today. They pulled it from the website as there were too many people asking for eta information.
