My phone (stock 4.2.2) doesn't seem to have this camera 'fault', but if it was software based wouldn't it affect all Ones running the same rom? Or is it a case of a firmware fix for a hardware defect?

Not sure if anyone can suggest a fix:  Getting a persistent delay in connection of incoming phone calls - up to 3 seconds delay from pushing answer - I can hear them but they cannot hear me.  On outgoing calls I'm now getting a 1/2 seconf burst of speaker phone before going back to standard mode.

Any ideas guy?  Tried rebooting.

Do you have any apps like Tasker, that manage state changes? Maybe that's going wonky.

Do you have any bluetooth devices connected? Could be that Android is taking a few seconds to disable that. I don't have any problems with mine, but it's perhaps something you could troubleshoot.

Sorry, I know they're not very inspired ideas. Just taking a stab. Good luck!

Well today I bit the bullet and did a full Google Play conversion on my One. Nice touch was having a small OTA update waiting immediately so know all is working as it should. Bring on kit kat 4.4!!!

Cheers Zub.

Tracked down a likely culprit app:  Rescue+mobile.  Buggered if I can recall even installing it.  Deleted it..with some difficulty including a forced close.  Delay now seems to be gone but still getting small burst of speaker on outgoings.   Gotta watch those apps I guess.

Nope.  The full problem still persists.

freitasm: HTC preparing to start delivering Android 4.3 to HTC One.

Not surprising, the leaked 4.3 Sense roms have been stable for some time. Good on HTC!

Just a follow up.

Problem appears solved.   Cleaned out the call and text history and lag is now gone completly.

Yay! I'm curious to see what features they add other than the improvements in 4.3, thats whats really interesting to me. Although I have tried or seen the 4.3 BETA or leaked version, so it will be a bit of a surprise for me.

Here's hoping the rumours are true and we might see a bit of KitKat in the near future...

A reliable and well-known source for HTC-related rumors hinted earlier this week that the HTC One and its corresponding Google Play Edition may be among the first devices to get upped to Android 4.4 Kit Kat when Google rolls out its new mobile operating system later on in the month.

Had my HTC One for about 3 months now and although its a great phone, I think I'm going to go back to iOS. Not huge reasons for it, just that after spending a day with the wifes iPhone5 yesterday instead of my One it was the little things thats made the difference to me.

iMessage is one. All of my friends and family bar 1 had iPhones so everyone uses iMessage. I got a fair chunk of them to use WhatsApp so they could still IM me, but I get far less messages from them now than i did before. Esp with my folks living back in the UK, they forget to use WhatsApp so don't send me half as many whereas they still iMessage my wife a fair bit.

Size. I wanted the bigger screen coming from an iPhone4 and although I love the HTC One screen, there are times when its too big. I like to use the phone one handed when I'm walking thru the city, can't really do this with the One.

Lack of physical home button. This didn't even register on me until a few months after using the One, but so used to pulling my old iPhone out my pocket, spin with hand, unlock, reply to message/change track etc, put back. Now its a multiple step, multi hand to do anything like this. Sounds silly I know but its something I notice.

Camera. This is the number 1 reason for me ditching the iPhone 4 for the HTC One and now will be the main reason to go back. Its just too hit and miss for me. Indoor or outdoor I can't be sure of getting a decent shot with the One, a large percentage are out of focus still and it tends to hunt for focus a lot when trying to take pics of my little girl running round. My wife's iPhone5, none of these issues, snaps a great shot 9/10 times. Don't get me a wrong, the One camera is good, esp in low light, but for a quick snap its not reliable enough for me.

Battery - I'll miss this about the one. Superb!

Android - Now this was my first Android phone after years with iOS and I really like it. Only things that have been a bummer is that the app consistency isn't there like it was on iOS, something I never thought about with iOS. And I have a large amount of app crashes on the One which I don't remember experiencing before. Not a huge issue but have noticed it. But I really did like the freedom it gave you, especially in changing the default apps etc.

Overall though I think the One is still a brilliant device and Android is certainly a great OS. But for me especially with all my friends/family on iMessage and not willing to move to WhatsApp and also the poorish camera I'll be back to iOS when the 5S comes out here, or may just pickup a second hand 5. Gave it a good try and would certainly recommend the One and Android to anyone.

HTC have been pretty good with the updates, 4.3 is rolling out at a good pace. With some luck we'll see 4.4 a month or so after it is released.

Agreed, it was my worst fear going back to Android as the update process is a huge bugbear of mine but touchwood HTC are treating this phone as the premium device it is!

I suspect local telco variants will take a fair big longer to pump out 4.4 though

Can anyone do me a favour & check the stopwatch function for me.
When I start the s/w the phone does not go to sleep , all other functions are ok , ie sleep mode works fine
& also if I select the s/w  function without starting it , it goes to sleep.
The other thing is , it goes to 99 minutes & starts again.

I use this function to time my jobs for billing , & as the phone is still on , it's very easy to accidentally stop/ start /reset the phone taking it out of your pocket.

It got sent back for repair , apparently " it's a feature of the phone" .
Can anyone confirm if theirs is the same?
Tia
