funnyfela: Anyone else now having bluetooth issues? My One X was never fully happy streaming to my car stereo, and the One was. Now the metadata has stopped :/

How so?

If you have to run heating in winter, you don’t own enough computers.

Android 4.3 included AVRCP 1.3. Metadata worked for me after that update.

On another note, surely it's not just me missing the normal old T9 phone keypad style :(

Yea man it will just be you since no one in their right min would use a 'multi tap' keypad on a 4.7" display!! Qwerty will change your life :)

I use predictive ;) Can't stand qwerty on a phone, which is why I dislike iPhones
Gotta replacement keyboard but still tad annoyed that they removed it for no reason :/

KitKat OTA has just started rolling out for the GPe.

It can be downloaded for sideload here.

Just download and install com.google.android.launcher-0.9.6.886092.apk from here: http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/11/13/how-to-try-the-google-experience-launcher-with-translucent-bars-and-google-now-once-you-get-your-kitkat-update-apk-download/

D/L link at bottom of post and you'll have the full Nexus 5 experience. Looks like it will be going for wide release soon enough as well.

I've just finished installing the 4.4 GPe update. The performance improvement over pure AOSP built with 4.3 binaries is big! I thought that was a big enough increase over the 4.3 Sense 5.5 software.

Previous to 4.4 I would have picked Sense any day. But GPe KitKat with the new launcher is amazing.

Yea I actually  had the new launcher apk sitting in my download folder on my device so it's already installed!  Converting to ART now, just for the lolz.  Took a second to figure out that pressing up + power was supposed to be done in recovery mode, not when the device was off (installing the update over 4.3 GPe).  Big ups to the people at XDA for sharing that link so fast.

Yeah I would be keen to get in on that but still a few apps that don't support it. Titanium Backup and the Xposed framework come to mind. Can't live without those.

Yeah it is, the AOSP one is lacking the caller ID and search so I ripped the one from the N5 and had been using it.

The search works really well for local businesses here in Dunedin. Will never need to worry about a yellow pages or even saving most of them to my contacts again.

It works well with voice search too.
