Kalaren: Do any of you guys use screen protectors or are they unnecessary with the resistance of gorilla glass now

Gorilla Glass won't prevent scratching, depends on the user whether that makes them want to use a screen protector or not. I never do, but I'm comfortable with that, having never really scratched a screen on any of my phones over the last 5 years or so.

I agree with this. I'll take my chances bareback :-)

What is your reason behind avoiding screen protectors? Is it the fact that it ruins the feel, or the look?

Both. Not to mention sensitivity.

Typically both, also they tend to accumulate more grime than the screens and affect outdoors visibility.

I also find, that as they are only plastic protectors, they tend to mark up a lot easier from scratches etc. I tried one on my first smartphone but didn't like it at all. Ever since, i've found minimal impact on the phones i've had, including some non gorilla glass models.

Depends on your usage & care of course so YMMV.

I always had a screen protector on my iphone4 - always loved changing it as the phone would feel 'new' again. Haven't gone with one on my current Nokia Lumia 800 (mostly because they don't fit properly with the curved screen)... but I regret it, screen is scratched :(

I really want this phone and as this isn't releasing here any time soon I am going to try and forget about it for a few weeks, come back and hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised with a release :D

I know how you feel.

I keep looking at places on Ebay with physical stock right now and considering pulling the trigger, the repairability and reports of people returning 2-3 handsets due to build quality issues (gaps in construction, misaligned ports, dead and stuck pixels, persistent hissing noises in calls and video capture) is really holding me back though.

Another case of nice build materials, dodgy build quality/QA for HTC?

One X had more than a fair share of issues, gap between display and shell, dust under display glass, Wi-Fi antenna contact issues etc. The One doesn't sound to be much better so far

Not sure how widespread the problems are, but doesn't inspire me to buy it from anywhere where warranty access may be an issue thats for sure.

Do you mean 'surprised with a release' of the One when it eventually gets here - or the release of some other phone that you could be interested in?

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

I assume you are talking about the One? Could you put up some links so that I can have a look at some of these? Sounds scary. I've read heaps of reviews and never heard anything like this - quite the opposite in fact.

Of course, this thread is about the One :)

Just check these forums at XDA for examples of users having issues, there are multiple threads going on:
