eracode: I assume you are talking about the One? Could you put up some links so that I can have a look at some of these? Sounds scary. I've read heaps of reviews and never heard anything like this - quite the opposite in fact.

Of course, this thread is about the One :)

Just check these forums at XDA for examples of users having issues, there are multiple threads going on:

far out.. the forum is filled with build quality complaints..
hope it's just the first batch that was bad.
Scuff/chipping on the black version and some gaps in the screen seem to be a common problem

Seems funny to me I have been on plenty of other forums full of early adopters and have only seen one person with a build quality issue

It isn't so much those issues, its more the repairability factor if purchasing via somewhere where warranty access could be an issue.

Yes, of course, but suddenly there's all this negative stuff which made me wonder because up till now I had seen only raving accolades for this phone. I was surprised.

mrgsm021: Samsung Mobile NZ has just announced on Facebook that we'd be the first in the world to get the S4 at 10AM on 27/04.

Take note HTC

NZ never used to be included in the 1st release country for galaxy series.
HTC will be hurt greatly if they don't release the One soon..

The One was pretty much done for already in our market, there is like zero consumer awareness of it. This pretty well nails the coffin shut.

A valid point and customer awareness has been one of the reasons Apple and Samsung have been successful. HTC on the other hand haven't even confirmed release dates for so many markets. If they need to beat Samsung they got to do a lot more than some nasty tweets about S4's build quality.

What really brought this home for me was a Facebook post a few weeks back with someone asking what smartphone to get next, in the ensuing replies there were about 20 who said Galaxy, 3 who said iPhone (and it later emerged one of those 3 people is getting an S4 themselves), and ZERO mentions of other phones.

Not.a.single.one.

About 18 months ago a similar question was unanimously met with recommendations for the iPhone.

And this is what dictates the resale value as well.

Definitely true - but for me this just makes me want the One more... maybe I'm part hipster or something... Hey there's a marketing idea... free scarf and polaroid attachement for the first bunch of buyers! Altho that'd delay shipment further...

Seriously tho this sucks, I need a phone pronto and was on the fence for so long between the S4 and the One... must be strong and hold on!

Maybe this thread can turn into a support group as we wait through the cold winter and turn our heads away from our friends with glowing S4s ><

I am still waiting for mine from Noelleeming ordered a few weeks back.  At same time through Amazon I ordered a nice cover for it.  Well I just received an email from Amazon that the order has been cancelled due to manufacture delays and can re order at end of month if I still want the cover.  So delays with the phone and delays with an accessory.

HTPC Intel Pentium G3258 cpu, Gigabyte H97n-wifi motherboard, , 8GB DDR3 ram, onboard  graphics. Hauppuage HVR 5500 tuner,  Silverstone LC16M case, Windows 10 pro 64 bit using Nextpvr and Kodi

Not entirely true. I have atleast 2-3 people walk into our store per day asking about it. The lack of release date is certainly killing the buzz though

I am still waiting on my order from Noel Leeming as well. Was looking to get the s4 but then the sale came on and I jumped ship. I really need to retire my Samsung GNex - cracked screen, battery life, charging issues etc.. Was really looking forward to receiving the One soon! but everyone is saying first week may..it is indeed a buzz kill.

I would consider the s4 if it is in the sub 1k range.. but since its not...HTC ONE it is..

With the announcement that the S4 is end of month and the ONE doesn't even have a set date, I am seriously starting to considering jumping ship.

What I would love to see is an HTC One vs Butterfly comparison/review as the Butterfly has features the One is missing.
