heavenlywild: Chatted online to a sales specialist on Vodafone's website. Here's the info on buying the phone outright:

"It is $1149, however, we don't offer the HTC One for outright purchase at this stage because supply is very limited for it. Later on down the track, however, I'm pretty sure we'll do so for it."

We know that Telecom's pricing is $999. and with their pending 4G services starting in October, my NL Easter Sale price of $799 on XT is looking better and better!

Does anyone know if the HTC One purchased from Telecom XT is able to be used with a Vodafone sim, coz I still got 6 mths of contract with rip off Vodafone...

Yeah my contract is up at the end of July, I am tempted to flat out cancel it and switch to Telecom. Vodafone plans and pricing are bloody terrible.

I just copied and pasted the chat transcript, and also the link to the pre-order page. What other evidence do you need @networkn?

Trust that I am not here to BS, unless the online sales specialist was telling porkies.

So based on that Vodafone page you can only get the One with a $140 plan? I can't see any way of changing it.

If so... lol.

Yeah I figured the same thing. I wonder if that's to curb early sales numbers due to reduced stock. Another nail in the release coffin if so.

Well that is FREE with a $140 plan and as has already been pointed out they have LIMITED stock, they are going to try and make as much money as they can with those few items as they can. It might surprise some here that the aim of businesses is to make money :)

Telecom support don't have any idea about a date for their HTC One pre-ordering. If/when I leave 2D it'll be to Telecom and I figure I may as well try and get a new phone at the same time but the uncertainty is a bit of a pain.

Which is weird seeming Dick Smith has a confirmed Ship date for their Telecom Model of the 7th of May.

Hi guys, long time reader first time poster. Just curious as to how you have preordered from DSE & Noel Leeming etc, I have looked on their respective websites and they make no mention of the phone being available.

I am interested in the black 64gb model, but I understand that these are rare as hens teeth and would be willing to settle for a 32gb.

So did you go in store and speak to a rep? I was just on the phone to a Voda customer service rep and they were pretty much useless at telling me anything about the phones availability off contract (I am already signed with them). I also have a $350 credit with them and I am wondering if they will accept this at DSE and Noel Leeming, as they may be a "participating VF store".

Any help on these questions would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah good point, not a bad return for Vodafone.. $3360 over the life of the contract for a phone that some have pre-ordered for $800.

Right and of course they don't have any cost for any other part of that $140 plan right?

Before/on the Easter weekend specials the HTxc One was listed on the NL website. It had a 20% discount so people have pre ordered it for $800
