Finch:
Hollidog: Hi guys, long time reader first time poster. Just curious as to how you have preordered from DSE & Noel Leeming etc, I have looked on their respective websites and they make no mention of the phone being available.

I am interested in the black 64gb model, but I understand that these are rare as hens teeth and would be willing to settle for a 32gb.

So did you go in store and speak to a rep? I was just on the phone to a Voda customer service rep and they were pretty much useless at telling me anything about the phones availability off contract (I am already signed with them). I also have a $350 credit with them and I am wondering if they will accept this at DSE and Noel Leeming, as they may be a "participating VF store".

Any help on these questions would be greatly appreciated.

Before/on the Easter weekend specials the HTxc One was listed on the NL website. It had a 20% discount so people have pre ordered it for $800

Thanks for that, I just called them up and they told me that it is no longer available for preorder, which is kind of gutting as I really want to get my mitts on this phone (smashed my iP4 last Novemeber) However they will take my Vodafone voucher which is good news.

Do you have any info on colour/size options?

I talked to Noel Leeming and they said they wont be getting black and will be shipping out the silver version. This is due to some delays.. so the black ones are really rare..

... but apparently the black finish chips like buggery. However this is sour grapes - I think I would prefer a black one. Looks very cool.

Yes I have heard that it is quite similar to the iP5 in that regard, but it is such a sexual device I would live with it.

Battery stats - today was light usage but it doesn't chew through on standby...

My one x by this time of the day was gone, no matter how much I used it.

The average is no good because I have been struggling not to play with it.

Awesome battery life.

Hey, does your handset have the "small gap" issue at the top of the phone?

HTC are offering unlocked HTC One's direct for US$575 plus presumably postage.  Unfortunately they are out of stock for 2-4 weeks and you will probably face GST bringing it in.  Still it maybe an option for some.

Be careful as their 4G frequencies (if you plan to use it) isn't compatible with NZ from my understanding.

Yeah, got it yesterday. Very nice, the tab dock thing seems to work well, but not had a lot of time with it as yet.

May not matter anyhow.

Both Telecom and Vodafone are using/testing on 4G 1800 Mhz spectrum, but both have said they will go after the 700 spectrum later in the year when it goes up for auction.
And if I understand it right (if not please let me know) the way we would use the 700 spectrum is not the same as the US carriers use it, so their ones won't work now, or later if we do go down the 700 road.

With me living in Christchurch and on Telecom, pointless to even really worry about what 4G the phone is, if what I have said above is true.
