mahdibassam: Hey guys,

Does anyone know when Vodafone and Telecom will start selling the HTC One ?

Noel Leeming has it up on their site. No ETA though.
Not sure if that is the new One. It says One XT and has 13mega pixel camera. The One has 4mega pixel Ultrapixel camera. From their specs it looks like its the upgraded One X.

Although it does say dual front speakers and the upgraded HTC One XT doesnt list that.  A little confusing when there is an One XT

checked with a reliable source at Noels. It is HTC one and is the telecom version hence it says XT. They still use XT for telecom phones although telecom doesn't use XT anymore.
thats great then. Not a bad price considering.

Ya I agree and given the easter weekend isnt far there will be a 20% off phones hopefully that will make it $799. Tempting to be honest if that happens.

They will (ok, 99% sure) take 20% off during Easter. It's been done for so many years!

$799 is an awesome price for this phone. I wonder whether I should go with the Vodafone handset or the Telecom one. I am assuming both versions will be available to pre-order or purchase by Easter... fingers crossed.

Also hope Vodafone / Telecom doesn't bung up the firmware. What's been people's experience there?

Ya you are right about the discount. I prefer the vodafone version as I am on Vodafone and also they have a 2 year warranty through vodafone as compared to a standard 1 year warranty on telecom sourced handsets. going with the HTC One x history vodafone version got quicker updates than the telecom one but then again things could be different with this handset.

One minor point of confusion here!!!

Noelleeming have it on their website but they dont mention anything about the release date. Everyone just assumes that it will be up for sale by easter , but we dont really know that do we? Telecom and Vodafone also havnt said anything about the release date.

It says special order. The order can be placed and if there is a discount available there is no reason why we cant order even if we have to wait. If they have put it up I am sure they will accept the order if someone wants to buy.

Only time will tell. Will get some clarity around it from a mate who is the manager of JB tomorrow.

Zub: Depending on the timing of release, I've been looking at the feasibility of getting the HTC One Developer Edition.

The main bonus is the 64GB storage (which seems hard to find) for what seems a reasonable price. Also for an unlocked bootloader (although I understand you can unlock European HTC phones at their website anyway).

I'm lost when it comes to the frequencies though. I would use it on the Vodafone network. Does anyone know if the below is a compatible list with Vodafone NZ?

HSPA/WCDMA: 850/1900/2100 MHz
GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
LTE: 700/850/AWS/1900 MHz (US)

From what I understand, the GSM would be okay (900 and 1800 MHz).
But the HSPA wouldn't work without 1800Mhz?
And it wouldn't work on Vodafone LTE, which I think is 1800Mhz?
(I'm not sure what the AWS in the spec sheet represents. 1700?)

It looks like like it's not really compatible with NZ frequencies. Am I right?

With what you've mentioned it would work on VF 3g, limited to the main centres only. No 4g. This is based on the info you have posted.

I want this phone for sure, don't get me wrong, but coming from a SGS3 it doesn't feel like much of an upgrade. Better camera/louder speakers/Zoe. Is that worth $1000? To me it isn't. If I was to buy a phone this year this would be it, but I think I might skip a generation/year

Man you would think HTC are WANTING to help the S4 smash it.

Be surprised if we got it before April 1st

And then there's the fact that I can guarantee that the black version will be incredibly limited supply and even further late. I pre-ordered the black version but now i'm not expecting to see it until late April or May in reality. I don't want the S4 at all, so for me the delay isn't so much about what I will buy, but more how much I can sell my old device for to offset the upgrade cost.

Because HTC is complex to make compared to the cheap plastic of the Samsung they can crank out a lot faster easier without dependence on aluminium supplier who probably got bribed by Apple lol
