The ultimate test for a smartphone.

May sting a little for those that are still waiting for theirs to arrive.

Stevereds: It may have already been answered but here goes....if I buy the Vodafone HTC One can I pop my Telecom simcard into it and have it work properly?

I am only thinking of this because I may be going overseas sometime this year and it would be nice to have 4G possible if I ever bump into it. I am on Telecom because of local reception issues with Vodafone.

First part was already answered, but anyhow, yes.

The 2nd part (This is if you buy the VF One and use your Telecom SIM)
You need to ask yourself, where are you going and for how long.

If it's over to Oz, for a short or a long stay, then yes.
You could buy a SIM or use roaming at $? per day (3G is $6 a day now, who knows what 4G roaming will be) when they turn it on.

If it's to the US, then No, the VF and the Telecom Ones will never do 4G there.

So you'll need to check to see if they use 4G 1800, if not, your out of luck.

On a side note, and from someone that spends a lot of time overseas, free wifi for the most part is easy to find in Asia, US and the UK. So don't worry about data to much.

Has anyone ever tried one of those screen-protector-style-but-goes-over-the-back-too type coatings for their phone?
Impossible to get right? Look like crap?

Just bought 2x white cases + screen protectors from ebay for $9 O_o

I have got one of those ROCK Matte cases. I ordered it from Ebay a couple of weeks ago in anticipation.

It is quite plasticky. It wont give any protection from DROPS! But it is good enough for putting on the table. Will protect the phone from scratches and stuff well enough.

I am looking forward to getting the Otter Commute case:

I would like drop protection for my One

Still think this looks the best in regards to a lightweight 'barely there' case

Depends on my day. I have 2 push email accounts, viber and a few other intensive apps but on average I'd be looking at 30 hours battery and up to 6 hours screen time.

Sorry, I got that a little wrong.

My friend lives in Taiwan, and after posting pictures of his new phone (way back in March) he posted he was doing this http://dacota.pixnet.net/blog/post/30524505 though never posted a pictures of his phone with it on.

bradstewart: They all have those languages Telecoms included.

The Telecom variant is m7_ul which is the international gsm/lte one that everyone has. Software is the only difference.

There are several variations of m7_ul. Any idea of the LTE frequencies your one covers? Or, failing that, the frequencies of the Telecom LTE when it's released?

At the moment, I'm thinking the vodafone and telecom units are identical, but I'd like to update my little list and be sure.

It's far too good looking to entomb in a case.
