As a owner of a HTC One I would like people who have hardware build issues actually post a picture what they are seeing and their build number

Looks to be the early adapters who imported early builds of the phone????    Observation here.

Note mine is build Ht34W  Vodafone preorder

Please post pics and build number with comments on gaps and build issues.

The zero gap is really for the back only, if you see the teardown you will realise the two speaker grilles are glued in and not part of the unibody. They are right but they should have been more specific. Nevertheless if you feel that your gap is larger than just a hairline thick, go and exchange. Also take note of your serial number, it was noted in XDA that HTC later batches have better QC starting from late March so any One with the serial FA/SH/HT33M or higher (e.g. FA/SH/HT34W) should have not much QC issues.

And you should be glad that yours is only about some small gap. The One X users especially the early adopters suffer way more serious QC issues than this. Being the first phone to have the unibody build, its build quality for the first few batches are really cmi.

PS mine has no build / gap issues buy the NZ telco supplied phone its great.

Doesn't sound it. Might just get a vodafone one if it's still not out by this weekend - don't want to start my new job without a smartphone!

I grabbed the Incipio Frequency case in grey (or 'Translucent Mercury' if you're a marketer) from a US seller on ebay.

It looks nice, should grip well and it had a few good reviews on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQMvjSc4VDs.

Cost approx NZD30 incl shipping.

Also picked up some desktop chargers like this one. It has a removable inset so it can fit phones with skins.

I'll probably pick up a zagg screen protector - not sure whether I'll use it or not. Didn't use a screen protector with my S3 and had no issues (so far). But I did use one on my HTC Desire and it did affect the responsiveness of the screen (but it's still in great shape!).

I'd prefer no case or screen protector - but that would be asking for trouble.

For me it's not the end of the world if it's tomorrow, next week or even the week after that.

But Telecom reps (Brightstar reps ??) have been very silly giving out dates over the phone, live chat etc that they can't be sure about.

When you import (doesn't matter who you are) sh#t does and will happen.
But even if they were unlucky with the container that had their phones in it, and it ended up with holds like a wash, or an unload audit (these are just two things that offen hold up shippments, not saying it is the case here though) where the VF ones didn't have this or something of the likes.
But as the importer, you know about these things when it lands and it's not hard to work out how many days it will add before the goods hit the stores (on top of anything you already knew about)

It's all but same way you guys track and trace an item from Fedex (ie: how easy it is) it is for an importer even if they are ordering by the container load.

So I do find it a bit crazy these reps on one day say it's X date, then the next they have no idea.

It is really as easy as A + B + C = X date (A = Shipping, B = Unloading, C = Re-Distribution with in NZ)
And if sh#it happens ie: the container gets picked for an MPI audit (used to be called MAF) you just add those days to the math.
And when asked, you can say, sorry it's held up for two as the container had an audit put on it when landed, if you so wanted to. But you would have a good idea of the added time/new eta date to store.

Have just bought a Vodafone HTC One. Watch does not offer me option of setting IR remote. Anyone else seen this? Do I truly have to reset and relock bootloader?

Had a Telstra branded phone that did perfect remote.

Thought this was a fantastic feature.

Despite this HTC/Vodafone mess up this phone is the bee's knees.

Galaxy 4 is retired, sort of blowsy

The only options it offers me is programming. Do you have Vodafone NZ phone? IR stuff worked fine on Telstra phone which I briefly had

Yip, VF NZ bought yesterday. I just went through the motions and picked Australia, then a state, that filled up the programme info and let me access the remote. Might be an easier way, but that worked for me!

I doubt the S4 is retired its just a matter of choice and we consumers are winning out of the latest offerings so no need to trash other phones to make yourself feel good about your choice.

Spoke to Noel Leemings at 5:15pm - seems they have had a lot of calls today and according to the lady I spoke to the last update they got was after 3 and it was, still no date set

Deanzo is spot on issues come up, stock gets withheld and unforeseen things happen, but calculating a date isn't hard at all and should they happen to arrive sooner than what they guestimate then thats awesome

I just want a bloody date for my $1600 purchase made two months ago

you were lucky getting 2 for $1600 2 months ago. I had to pay $1005 6 weeks ago on March 21 for 1. Noel Leeming still havent said anything. I emailed a week ago and they knew nothing
