I just bugged Telecom online support team like I do everyday morning. The guy went and checked with someone and emailed me back the following:

Thank you for contacting us regarding the HTC One launch. I am very sorry to have to tell you that there has been a further delay. We are hoping it won't be too many days, but I can't give you a solid date, and don't want to now in case further delays should happen. We were all told it would be the 9th May, so I'm very sorry to give you that expectation only for it to be delayed again. What he did say, (without giving any details at all), is that our pricing will be very competitive on launch, so if you can wait a littler longer it may be worth the wait. He also mentioned, (as a good alternative), that we do have the Samsung S4 for sale right now, and that there is a promotional deal on it offering an extra 1GB data free for 12 months for online sales - please see http://www.telecom.co.nz/mobile/galaxys4/ Again, I hate being the bearer of bad news, but hope this at let's you know what's going on. If I can assist you further, please ask me.

Well I've just been told (and I trust who told me this)

Brightstar have them and they are ready to go.

But

Telecom has put a hold on them from shipping the phones, no idea why, or when Telecom will give them the green light to send them.

My live chat has just told me they are being released today.

I won't be getting mine till Monday as it's part of my work plan.....but I want to get a case before it arrives.

Scott K: We have been experiencing some delays with the launch of the HTC One.
Scott K: What I recommend is that you check in with us again later on today about this.

Sucks to hear about your guys problems, I hope they get resolved soon.
Better news, (for me at least) I got mine yesterday from VF Sylvia Park. Bit of a drama about the voucher that I had with them and I had to go back two days in a row (the first attempt being Tuesday). JB wouldve done it for $50 less but the lady who knows how to put the vouchers into the system wasnt working. Didnt mind paying for the privilege of owning it now though.

Went home and charged it up and booted up HTC Sync Manager (which I had preinstalled in anticipation) and transferred over my data. During this process the phone froze twice, once when playing with the camera and trying to switch to the front camera, and again when trying out the internet browser. I chalked this up as being a result of trying to do too many things at once while transferring data. Havent had any freezing since.

Overall, I love the look and feel of this phone. Its night and day compared to my smashed iPhone with bits of glass falling out of it everywhere and a not functioning home button.

Having not used Android much in the past Im still coming to grips with it. So I figure Ill put a couple of questions to the experts:
Is there any way to show a percentage of the battery remaining in the top bar next to the indicator?
Is there any way to add things like brightness adjustment and a wifi toggle to the notification pull down?
I understand there is a way to set a thing called "Scroll Wallpaper", where do I find this setting?
Also on wallpapers, any one know how to use the full image as a wallpaper, rather than a crop?
Lastly, does anyone know why my phone wont find 4G? I put the option on my plan in store last night and all the settings on my phone suggest it should work. I am also in a coverage area according to the VF coverage map.

Oh, and this is the case I got, saw it on a Chinese website for 10 or so USD, figured it was worth the little more to get it sooner rather than later.

One last thing (I promise) can anyone recommend some good Android apps for a noob such as myself?

EDIT: Case picture

That is a nice case. Though I don't like cases in general. I'd like a % indicator for battery too.

Make sure you have an APN set as "vodafone" to get 4G

Thanks, I like it too obviously! Not really a fan of cases either, used one on my iPhone for about 6 months when it was new (man that was a long time ago) I was mainly after something that will provide a bit more traction than the smooth aluminium while I get used to the size increase.

Just walked up the road to Wendys Gt Sth Rd and can confirm that I got some 4g service, albeit only one bar, which made for a pretty poor Speedtest result Undecided

Apparently one bar on the HTC One of 4G is actually still 3G speed or higher according to the Aussies

Cool to have it connected to 4G though! Lucky you, while most of us continue to wait.
