Can I allocate a ring tone to a Group of contacts or does it have to be programmed at the individual contact level??

bradstewart: It's the 4x1 weather clock. I installed a transparent version of the stock one.

You can also do this (transparent clock and weather widget) using the Fancy Widgets app.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Ok so I'm looking at better battery stats as phone is at twenty percent already... Not even at three hours screen time! Correct me if I'm wrong tho but this app doesn't seem to tell you what's using the battery, just what's running right?

What's the best way to show you guys the summary, screen shot?

Edit.. 11min later I'm at 9%... This can't be normal!

Chillin.

I left it default so its looking for networks and telling me when there's open ones all the time. Turning it off would save a bit of battery I assume. Just been monitoring a bit before I start making changes to lower battery use.

You need to check partial and kernel wakelocks, those will show where the issues are.

here we go - if its not too much trouble please explain what I'm looking at here. I feel I need an 'explain like I'm 5' battery stats app.

Dingbatt: Bu66er it! I just inserted my Telecom sim and selected "load carrier options" and got the MyTelecom Y!TWorld etc shortcuts that I was after, but it also blitzed all my carefully constructed homescreens.

So further on my journey of exploration of the effects of inserting the Telecom SIM, the name of the phone in the Play store has changed and had "Telecom XT" appended to it and the startup splashscreen is no longer accompanied by audio (not a bad thing because it was too loud).
Has anyone discovered if a factory reset (without a sim in) will reset it to the original unbranded state?
Or if inserting a VF sim has the same branding effect (ie apn settings, shortcuts, etc).

Factory reset will remove Telecom shortcuts. They won't return after that.

The network name in the Play Store has nothing to do with Telecom.

"The msm_hsic_host wakelock is because the 3G modem is connected to the phone as an external USB device controlled by the hsic host controller. When the modem wakes up for any reason (apps sync, location, tower ping, etc...) the wakelock is requested. The problem is that the hsic host controller doesn't go back into suspend mode properly, this is a problem with the kernel. The result is that because the hsic host controller isn't asleep the phone wont enter deep sleep while it waits for the hsic host to suspend.

There is the additional issue that if your signal is poor the operations that caused the wakelock in the first place take longer to complete thus lengthening the time the wakelock is held.

The issue is significantly reduced on WiFi for obvious reasons, all the data is transmitted via WiFi so the 3G modem doesn't need to wake up nearly as often, it still wakes up to deal with tower checks and that sort of thing to ensure that it has voice connectivity, but those events are much rarer.

There are kernels available that attempt to solve this problem, Harsh kernel as suggested by another user has fixes in it along with a lot of other changes, the fixed kernel I'm working on is stock with these changes as well, either should help, it's not possible to eliminate this wakelock completely without shutting down the 3G modem which would of course prevent data and voice use of the phone, but they will reduce the wakelock and may help with your battery life."

pm8921_eoc is a wakelock that happens during charging, don't think it has any relevance.

That doesn't sound like something I can just load on the phone without rooting it eh?
