joker97: is the chainfire root method different from the adb method ?

I can't root my MDF with the adb method

CF method same as in the past. . Odin flash a modified stock kernel with a modified recovery and root. I flashed a fixed stock recovery over the top so it can still (hopefully) install carrier updates.

if I have an aussie model will this brick my device?

I am trying the adb method and it won't connect "adb device offline"

Broooooo. Have you even read the instructions in CF's thread? Check your firmware vs whats in the instructions then see if youre good to go. That's what I did.

i'll give the ADB method one more try ... downloading latest ADB SDK - for some reason this method sounds more pure ... instead of flashing a MD2 kernel over my MDF :(

BTW any aussie people rooted MDF with CF method? (who knows I might get lucky here ...)

Use search this thread for MDF and theres decent discussion on it. Looks like it can be done in a round about way. Read all those search results.

You can't, it doesn't work, nor will the calendar.

If you copy your backup folder, it should work... Don't restore any system data tho.

is there any published "safe apps to disable" or "apps list explanation" - there seems to be a lot of new lines I don't recognise in titanium compared to my s2.

seriously, I have 1.8GB ram and not running anything from boot I have used 1.2GB!

time to trim the fat!

also if I uninstall something from titanium will it make a difference to my 9GB of "space" in internal SD storage? (in the S2 the apps are installed in a separate partition called apps - which makes it safe to wipe/factory reset and retain all your storage but not so in the s4 - waiting patiently for my 32GB micro sd which arrived late hence it is still in Oz while i'd returned to NZ *sigh)

i have a problem with the lock screen.

if an sms comes thru is there any way to touch it and straightaway open the sms app?

at the moment you touch it, a BLANK box comes up, you ahve to swipe it away and the sms app opens ...

what's with the BLANK BOX???

i have disabled "widgets" under "lock screen"

No not currently, it's a PAIN IN THE Bottom! I just usually swipe the messaging app icon which opens the messages.
