MurrayM: Arrgghh, blimmin SD card is still playing up. It was working last night and now this morning there is a "SD card unexpectedly removed" notification. Time to go back to First Mobile and see what they say.

I believe that there is something not right with the way S4's are interacting with cards.

I think you might be right, I've seen a lot of messages about people having trouble with SD cards on their S4's.

We took the S4 back to First Mobile and they exchanged the S4 for a new one.  The guy there had heard of problems with the S3 and SD cards, and wondered if these problems had been carried over to the S4 (although I've never had any problems with my S3 and SD cards).

By the time we got home we were getting the same message about the SD card being unexpectedly removed.  The phone just wouldn't recognise the SD card at all (which was still the original SD card that we bought with the S4).  We tried the SD card out of my S3 in the S4 and it worked ok.

Back to First Mobile and they gave us a new SD card which so far has been working ok.  Unfortunately they wouldn't give us back the original S4, saying that they'd already put through all of the exchange paperwork, so we had to set up the S4 all over again to get it how we wanted.

Hopefully this will be the end of the problems!

Well done to First Mobile at Albany for their excellent customer service!  They were very helpful and friendly and getting a new S4 offered to us without any prompting on our part was great.

You mean digital mobile? There is no first mobile now as they were bought by Vodafone.

No, not Digital Mobile.  I mean the shop that used to be called First Mobile, but that now has all Vodafone branding.  The one that is a kiosk, not to be confused with the other Vodafone shop that is also in the same shopping centre.

NEXT Launcher looks nice but at $19 it would need to be!!! SBShell 3D is the best I have seen in that realm.

The kiosk is digital mobile but great service to replace the phone. Also an interesting point you raise about the sd card from s3 to s4.

kiwitrc: I dont have an S4, but is the Samsung Software that bad?

http://www.stuff.co.nz/technology/gadgets/8683268/Review-Samsungs-Galaxy-S4

Soon as my phone arrived. Set it up and reactivated NEXT launcher which by the way if you have not had the privy of using it is by far the reason why you probably might never flash ROMS ever again. This piece of art of software is light years better than any rom can deliver imo. Touchwiz is no problem in the background as NEXT is uber butter smooth and the animations are mint and customizations are clever & extremely detailed. Thats my plug for the devs at Go luancher i guess. Pricey but worth it.

Read it quickly however no mention made of alternative launchers? I use Apex or Nova. Might give the next one a go. I don't mind touchwiz these days actually but the icons could do with a size reduction and look a little more styly!

Ah, ok.  Well whoever they are the offered great service!

The brand of SD card that they sold us was a Lexar.  I'm not sure now if the phone was faulty or the SD card, since now both have been swapped.

Question. I have a MicroSD, 64GB Sandisk Type 10. It has 20GB of data on it. To copy this data to my PC I have a MicroSD to SD Card Converter and then a aData Multicard reader plugged into the usb port. I am getting transfer rates ~3MB/s which component is going to be slowing the transfer rates?

The adapter will just be physical.  Most likely it's the aData card reader...unless you have noticed slow USB performance on that port before?

Bought this case for $45 from JB HiFi, however don't need it now, as I preferred the other one I bought fromthere.

Any takers?  $35.00 Comes with screen protector and cleaning cloth. Used for a total of 30 minutes.

Samsung Smart Switch?

Its an exe file that requires no installation to the PC and I have had a couple of good reports about it, apparently supports Blackberry.

Try the free version it  gives you full use for a month I think - give it whirl its  better than SBshell for customization. You can make everything look exactly like touchwiz if you like or go for a massively customized minimal black look which I find looks great on the black S4. I paticularily like it because the fluidity of the launcher is unique.
