blakamin: OMFG! Google Edition ROM is like butter!!!!!

EDIT: wifi is a bit slow.
EDIT: Wifi fixed.

This ROM is like having a new phone!

Which version? 4.2.2 or 4.3Cool

Now I really dont know where to go from out of the box + rooted.  Still kind of favouring a Samsung based rom like Foxhound.  Didn't have the time this weekend to sit down and play.

Foxhound is pretty good but really depends on what you are looking for. i prefer sammy rom's myself and there are a few good ones around, Omega is what I'd term the fast food version of rom's with heaps of add ons and well supported. Wanam is my go to Rom and I always seem to go back to it as he does a stable rom without too many changes but battery life is usually pretty good and he de bloats it as well..

4.3 seems to be having a few issues from what I can see although some are having no issues. I'd hang back on 4.3 at the moment until they get a better handle on it.

For something completely different and if you want to sample a bit of CM, AOKP, Paranoid Android try Pacman it is a mix of each, to be honest it had too many customisations for me but it worked well.

For those of us who don't have lots of experience with the different custom ROMs, is there one good place to look all of these up...see reviews and comments, features etc?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192841

have a look in that trhread it has all the available Roms, make sure you get the I9505 ones.

Best guide is to see how many posts and replies are to a thread and that will indicate the popularity of that particular Rom.

There are differant types as well so google AOKP, Cyanogen Mod, Miui

Best advice is to do a nandroid backup that way you can revert back at any time without loss of anything so makes it easy to try whichever takes your fancy.

I usually watch a thread for a while when anything gets released or I'm looking at new rom that way you can see the issues the flashaholics have.

I would just add that its also a good idea to copy your nandroid backup somewhere safe like the ext SD card or PC.

4.2.2. Unfortunately 4.3 didn't /doesn't have root(haven't checked today, just got home)
4.3 also has heaps of test apps that kill battery.
The only issue I can find is the camera won't save to sd (also might be fixed today, haven't looked)
Other than than, I'm 11hours with 2+ screen on 38% battery with BT, wifi, gps, all push notifications, mobile data etc all on and listening to 7 hours of pod casts.

Ordered my KiDiGi car mount and desk cradle around 11pm last wed night. Arrived yesterday.
Am quite happy with them. Love the flush style power plug on the car kit. My power point is mounted under the cup holders and my HTC one used to interfere with them.

HTC however still have the neatest and most compact base of any I have seen though.
The KiDiGi one whilst not the worst I have seen, is quite bulky compared to the HTC
And you can't swivel it without loosening something

Kelem: Anyone know the best place to get a S4 LTE in hamilton?

I'm in Hamilton, and that's the more common model. All the decent retailers will have it eg Dick Smith, Noel Leeming, and the carriers, 2D, Telecom and Vodafone. Just make sure it's the 9505 model.

- Telstra HTC Touch Pro2 - Energy ROM WM6.5.5 20 Oct/Cyanogen Mod Froyo 2.2 - R.I.P
- AT&T Galaxy S Captivate 16GB on XT (now with brother)
- Samsung Galaxy S2 on XT- Runs ICS 4.0.3 Resurrection Remix 9.2
- Business Hours - Work In The Electricity Industry, After Hours - DJ/Turntablist - Will Scratch Vinyl For Free'
- What's next??? S3?

Have had a quick look on xda but without any luck. Is it possible to flash a MF8 based custom kernel on the stock MDE rom that came with the phone? I'm thinking it's not going to work and a bit hesitant to try!

be just the incentive required to go to an MF8 based custom ROM!

That's the only model unless it's parallel imported, which means you'd have no local warranty.

Yes Vodafone APN has been selected. I can surf the net using the mobile

Does Vodafone have a specific APN for LTE?

. Yes it does for LTE to work

So under access point names you will prob see VFNZ Internet (name doesn't matter) click on name and look at APN it should be spelt vodafone

You will also need the LTE add on from Vodafone maybe part of your plan.

Custom Roms I have noticed put in the old APN live.Voda....... etc as there APN list is out of date.

Also check under mobile networks you have Network Mode as LTE/WCDMA/GSM auto connect selected
