Has anyone recently claimed warranty on a parallel imported phone through them? If so, how was it?

The Reason I ask is that currently have (what I consider) a barely functioning Motorola Defy+ (Stock / Never been rooted) I bought from them last year and is about a week out from the end of the warranty period.

The phone for the past few months has suffered from regular clusters of frequent reboots, and sometimes boot loops that don't seem to have any determinable pattern. Often, mid call (most infuriating aspect) and while trying to browse the internet with Mobile Data enabled, even after a factory reset (data / cache wipe) and not installing any new apps. Even replaced the SIM card, same problem.

How good are they regarding handling these types of warranty issues? Could I be up for a bit of a challenge especially since it seems to be a random issue with no repeatable pattern?

Not me personally but a friend recently had a claim with them. Took a while (about a month) for the phone to be returned to him and he had to pay postage there and back but phone was fixed and hasn't had a problem with it since.

Look at the price they want for a Sony Z almost $200 over retail from the carriers

networkn: I'd like to know the same information with Mobicity.

I would be a little worried about Mobicity. They don't have any local presence, with their warranty being contacted out to a local third-party repair company. The lack of a local presence does pretty much rule out getting anything covered under the CGA if the repair company says that a repair won't be covered under warranty.

Hi All,

Just an update, I've since taken the the phone back to Expert Infotech, explained the situation and they've sent it off to their repair centre to have it checked out. (To their merit) They've given me a basic loan phone to use in the meantime.

Anyway, To be honest, what ever state the phone comes back in, I'm intending to relegate the Defy+ to Wireless Music Playing duties and am in the market for another semi rugged, water resistant phone. After much research, it seems the older Xperia Acro S at this present point in time could be a goer. Does anyone have any experience with this handset?

Call reliability? Are dropped calls or worse, reboots mid call a routine phenomenon?
Text messaging is reliable?
Any niggles to watch out for?

Also, noticed that Acro S (Telecom XT) is on sale at Noel Leeming, Can this phone be used on the 2degrees network (e.g what about Extended 3G 850 / 900 MHz issues , etc)?

Another update.

Less than a week after RMA'ing, They notified they replaced the motherboard. Got it back home but unfortunately experienced endless issues with Wifi constantly dropping on 3 WiFi Networks I used and the Volume Down button was busted (New issues that did not exist prior to handing phone to them). Took it back to them, Ben who was manning the counter was friendly and apologetic and rebooked it in for repair. Other than that, it has been with them ever since (Since Monday Last week).
