They are extremely easy to order from and the one in my car works just fine - youll only use a lot of data / texts for testing. The novelty of checking your car location every 5 minutes wears off after a few weeks :)

I like the idea but to me I would rather have my car insured. I somehow don't fancy the idea of retrieving my stolen car. Who knows what its going to look like after a few hours.

Would you like me to post some photos?

6 weeks working though the insurance process.  I have no issue with the company, it simply takes time.  It took 3 weeks just to be priced before they decided to write it off, then a week while they have a value assessment done, then a week of back and forward because I wanted a wreck price.  Then you wait for money to clear, but then I had to pay for the 'loss of use' before I could submit that invoice, so the car payment went on that....  6 weeks later.

One tip...

If you have a baby seat, it's a 'car accessory', so make sure your car policy has enough cover to include that expensive car seat that you take out of the wifes car and put in yours for a day...

If your car is worth $2,700 then you have to have enough insurance to cover the $500 seat, the tow rope, wheel brace, jumpers, and $500 dollars of other 'car' odds and sods that normally travel with you.

you should easily be able to find software that phones home via a txt rather than by continuously monitoring a data connection.
