I'm just installing the new update, i been waiting eagerly since i first got the phone.

I got the generic version rather than the official telecom firmware as i don't need the bloatware etc as Im 2degrees, not telecom.

Anyone else got this update and keen to tell me what im in for? bugs etc?

What I always find in new Android FW releases:

46% of people claim "This made my battery better"
54% of people claim "This made it worse, why oh why did they release this" (and then they follow some stupid guide about resetting their battery calibration that's utterly bogus)

16 people pop up out of the woodwork to say "This really really obscure bug that I have to go through 16 steps to reproduce, and would never affect a normal person in their daily usage IS STILL IN THIS VERSION"

1 person claims it "bricked" their phone, even though the phone still powers on just fine, it's just stuck in a reboot loop.

7 people who say "LOL why are you using Stock, you should be using MEGAMAX EXTREME SMOOTH PIMPLE POPPING ROM" that a 13yo cooked up in their basement, with half the features missing, a lot of build.prop settings that do nothing and reboots randomly 4 times a day. But hey, custom ROMS give you FREEDOM DOOD, plus the topic I downloaded it from said it was SMOOOOOTH.

At least, that's my experience when a new Android FW is released. I hope yours is much better :)

Cheers Muppet..... Well i'll find out sure enough and moan my butt off....

I think it won't be perfect, but hey what am i to expect when its barely 24hours since the official release, and the fact that New Zealander's are not suppose to get the update yet lol...

Lucky i have someone thats from Mexico living with me and could navigate to through the menu to swap from spanish to english on the first boot :)

apart from that, i like the glass look to it, nothing else that i have noticed yet, still early days....

i bought my xperia z from telecom when it fist came out, debranded it straight away as knowing telecom updates would probably never arrive

i flashed my Z to 4.2.2 a couple of days ago and i reallly like it. the semi transparent navigation and status bar looks really nice, the notification toggles are customiseable, lock screen widgets (finally!), can now connect the ps3 controller to the Z (no longer need to be rooted).

i wont claim any bogus battery life stats, but one thing i have noticed is it doesnt reach 100% lol, it stops at 99% and stays there.

the multitasking has changed abit too, its now in the centre of the screen, much nicer, with the small apps on a bar at the bottom.

the sms app has changed in a small but nice way too.

I just upgraded to 4.2.2 using PC companion, so this is available from Sony for NZ. Unfortunately, when I tried to check out the new Talkback feature the phone had a stroke (everything started to lock up, highlighted boxes, no scrolling so couldn't disable the feature). Restarted with no joy, so currently running a repair and restore, which is kinda sucky.

Although I have an Xperia S which I purchased direct from Sony NZ and is on VF. I found it came with 'bloat' and since then (12months ago), I have had two FW updates from Sony (now on JB as of a few weeks back)....I always find bloat comes back with each update in some form more so Mcafee (delete this ASAP and install lookout or somthing else) along with a few other crap apps including those from google.
