JimmyCorrigan: Thanks for that gcorgnet - sounds like it is still well worth it.  Might wait to see what the Motorola/Google annoucement is later in the week, but it's hard to imagine it will be a better deal than this one for the Nexus 4.

The Moto X looks interesting, Love the look of it, just hope it is easy to root and develop for like a nexus device and not a giant pain like Moto devices have been historically. If rumors are true it will be a mid price phone too which could bring it into competition with the Nexus4 price point.

The Moto X does look interesting, hopefully it's got decent enough specs and it's not too large.

Got my wife a Nexus 4 off 2 Degrees 2 weeks ago - She phones daughter and son in Australia at least 2 x week so with the Aussie minutes a Nexus 4 at $0.00 on a $49 plan was an absolute bargain for us coming off a Vodafone plan where Aussie minutes cost - and I get to share the 1GB data on my phone.

And the Nexus is a great phone she loves it - Google is a breeze to use. I have to say it's a better overall phone than my S3 - tried my best to swap with her, no way!

That's a good idea. I currently pay $39/month for my plan with my own phone so by moving to $49/month I get the Nexus 4 for $10x24 or $240.

Thats a real good way of looking at it - if I was a bigger user I'd be selling my S3 and getting a nexus, but I'm only on a prepay, darn, got me thinking though.

Actually I will probably give it to my daughter in the US who has a Nexus S and it's struggling. The Nexus 4 on Google is $389(US) including tax and shipping so this is  a great deal on a new phone for her.

Just nipped into WS and got one. Looks and feels great, especially compared to my creaky Galaxy Nexus!  (No rubber feet on this model, for the person asking)

Now if I could just find someone willing to sell me a case, I'd be very happy indeed. Even trademe had only a couple of listings and they were ugly wallet-style cases.

Hopped onto Amazon, who have a decent range but will not ship them to NZ. Yes i could YouShop one, but it seems like a lot of palaver for a USD$9 phone case!

Try ebay for cases, shipping is often direct and cheap or included. I got a pretty decent case for my RX100 camera from ebay for about $12 shipped.

Thank you for letting me know. Last question - has anyone done a Speedtest to see what sort of download speed you get with your Nexus 4? I guess in Auckland CBD or somewhere with the best signal in offpeak and peak?

Cheers, I am contemplating switching to Nexus 4 from my Galaxy S3 4G (which I like)....

Excellent - so you've had a couple of hours play time - whats the verdict?

Wife got a case off ebay $13 + free shipping from China, it was wallet type advertised as cowhide. received it after about 6 days and suprise surprise - looks and feels excellent even thou it's pink. How can they do it so cheap? definitely looks more than $13 worth.

Very good!
Have the Galaxy Nexus the Nexus 4 is for my partner )-:
Not a huge difference between the look of the 2 of them.
The Nexus 4 has a better feel to the touch screen, looks a bit nicer and seems faster
OTA upgrade to android 4.3 was available and has been installed (-:
