Here you go, I've uploaded the Telecom NZ Galaxy S4 ROM - Download it and keep it somewhere safe: http://android.interwebz.co.nz - you should get some pretty decent speeds off that.

Thanks and sorry @nzgeek - I didn't read through all of your post properly. I now have root access and am running on CM10.2 w/ a few tweaks here and there. Thank you all so much for your help!!!!

I'm happy you've got it all up and running :-)

Just be warned - you're now on the slippery slope to being a casual flashaholic. I tend to get a bit antsy if I haven't flashed a ROM update in the last week or 2!

ok definitely hooked. CM10.2 is a great place to start, have since migrated over to Carbon Mod this morning, which is fantastic with the level of individual ROM customization (via carbon fibres). If anyone wants the ROM and Gapps lemme know and I will link em to you. Thoroughly enjoying my custom roms thus far though! xD

I'm a bit sick of touchwiz in some ways. The downloaded apps not being sorted really gets to me. What practical differences are there between CM10.2 and S4 stock in terms of day to day use? How are the home screens different? What useful additional features are there?

Why not just use the all apps tab and sort alphabetically?

Howdy again all. I'm trying to change my recovery to twrp as I'm finding cwm a bit limited. Quite keen not to have to root my device all over again. Any idea's on how to change your custom recovery?

I already have cwm installed that's the problem. So I need to uninstall my old custom recover cwm and then install twrp. So far I'm unable to do this. From what I read it is a sorta only one at a time deal

Pretty sure I never went to TWRP but when I changed from Philz to CWM I just flashed it in recovery. To take out the other recovery you would really need to go back to stock, root then do TWRP which sounds kinda convoluted.

TWRP is awesome, much much better than CWM. Also I am running now on a stable version of MIUI with GAPPS working, loving it.

michaelmurfy: You should just be able to flash CF Auto-Root, this will let you keep your ability to do automatic updates etc, how I did it will be far different from how you did it since I run Linux but following this guide [Here] should be all you're needing to do to gain root, if you're wanting to flash a custom rom then do your research and make sure you know how to revert it to TNZ Stock and reset the flashcounter just in case you need to claim warranty.

CF-Auto-Root broke my OTA update ability.
