I just bought a Micro SDHC (32GB  ADATA) so I turned off my phone (Galaxy Grand), took my old MicroSD (8GB dont remember which brand) and put the new one. My old MSD started working fine as soon as I put on the phone so I though it was going to be the same with the new one. So I connected the phone to my PC and tried to transfer some files but it didnt worked, neither I could create folders, so I tried formatting the MSD from my phone and it quickly send an error message "The memory is damaged" (or something like that because my phone isn't on english). So I took the MSD, connected it to my PC (with an USB adapter) and formatted it, put it on the phone again, connected the phone to the PC and tried again to transfer some files but it didn't worked. After several tries I tried to transfer some files connecting the MSD (formatted from my PC) through the USB adapter and it worked, even transfer song and when I put the MSD on the phone I could listen to the files.

So the problem is that I cannot transfer files to the MSD when it connected throught the phone but I can when it's connected through the USB adapter.
And as far as I remember neither I can "create" files from my phone to the MSD (create folder, take photos, and probably install APPs).

I read a lot of people having similar problems but most of them didn't had a working answer (at least for me) and weren't so detailed as Im trying to be.

Really hope you guys can help me !

Phones can have card limits, and it sounds like you just found it.

It probably cant address one that large. IE When they say expandable to 32 it may mean onboard + 8/16

The Grand supports up to a 64GB microSD.

What file system is it formatted as? You may be using one that your android kernel doesn't support.

Also, can you successfully use the whole 32GB (or at lest most of it) from the PC? As in, actually put 25GB or so of data on there, then read it off again. There are some testing tools available for doing this.

Was the SD card purchased from a reputable retailer? As Inphinity has implied, it may not _actually_ be a 32GB card if not.

If you formatted it on the computer, it would've probably defaulted to formatting it as NTFS which the phone won't read. You'll need to reformat it as FAT32.

mybad. Didn't see the model listed (ninja edited? ;) )

I contemplated fake, but then read Adata, and they are more likely to fake Sandisk etc :)

I was thinking the same. Why would they pirate an Adata ? haha
I don't think its a fake, neither I think its broken, because I can use it properly when it's connected via USB (with an adapter), that means that I can create and transfer files and folders into it and then read it when I put the card on the phone.
But when I connect the phone (with the card in it) to the PC I CAN'T create folders or transfer folders to the card, but I can transfer files (videos, music).

I feel so damn stupid... I updated it (for some weird it didn't searched for the update automatically) and format the SD card from the phone and everything went allright.

Thank you very much guys for all the help :)
