mrtoken: Yes but i hate samsung phones (the feel of them is cheap) and i like my updates to come soon after release, not months later and out of date when they do turn up.

Amen. The S3 and S4 are cheap and plasticy feeling.

ajobbins:
There are already whispers about the Google Play edition devices starting to increasingly lag behind the Nexus update developments, and it still relies on the manufacturer to co-operate, which they seem to lose interest in pretty quickly once there is a new model out

What whispers are these?

4.3 rolled out a couple of weeks behind Nexus, likewise there was a small update that was similar amount of time and now (at least in the case of the GPe One) HTC confirmed HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat update details today saying that it will be releasing the HTC One 4.4 update to the Google Play Edition within 15 days

It seems to be living up to the promises from where i sit?

coolcat21: Guys, quick question. I"ve spotted the case that I like on Amazon and am just about to buy it.

The phone was only released today, so how would there be any cases available yet (The exact dimensions were only confirmed a couple of days ago with the Canadian carrier leak - let alone the device profile)

Those cases have been on Amazon for at least a week..

inj your opinion that are, to the millions that have bought them they may not think so. If all you are looking for is how a phone looks or feels them maybe you should buy an Iphone

Correct in my opinion they are, no need to get up tight and use the "buy an iphone then"

not uptight at all just clarifying the point that seemed to come across as fact when it wasn't. What is wrong with saying "buy an Iphone" it looks and feels nice so if that is what you are after then its ideal.

Trying to trash another product to make your choice better isn't a good look to those of us that don't hold your beliefs

I agree build quality is important, I believe samsung phones do have a good build quality - I just don't like the choice of materials. Looking forward to picking up a N5 to compare though...

Awesome

Look and feel is only one part of the equation. I think iPhone look great and are built well. But they still run iOS, which to me is a deal breaker. (I had an iPhone 4 for 2+ years, and I still have an iPad - but iOS is now WAY behind android).

If I could by an Apple iPhone Nexus running Android, I would probably have to consider it!

Nice! Thanks for bringing this topic back on topic. Lol. That's a pretty good deal considering the price for the Nexus 5 is higher than the Nexus 4 was. By the time you order online and purchase from the USA Play Store/pay taxes etc, you're looking at $600ish anyway. So for $699 and a 2 year warranty...I'm in! :) Just have to wait patiently now :)

BTW it's the international version, not the US version.

That's awesome considering n4 was 799, I think I'll cancel my play store order for that- warranty + lte band more than make up for the markup. I was expecting it to be higher as the n4 was cheaper on the play store than the n5.

And if there are similar xmas/boxing day sales like there were last year it will be even better..
