Behodar: Sigh, no luck with the Hola addon for Firefox. Fortunately I'm going to the US next week… guess what I'll be doing when I'm there :)

Taking orders from other geekzone members for nexus 5 devices that you can pick up and return to NZ LOL :P

Why are people ordering if there is no NZ LTE support? Surely that's a huge drawcard these days.

I didn't realise that there was no LTE until after I posted that. Sigh. Well, I have a friend in Australia...

It's the only reason why i am waiting, however if people are happy with 3g speeds and don't care about LTE then it would be cheaper to get it from the US play store, 16gig is only like $423 dollars + shipping but then GST fees etc so all up about 600.

I see the 16gig one hitting NZ at around the $800 mark again, however as we tend to get ripped off here for new devices it could go up to $1000

Because mobile data is still ridiculously expensive and on HSDPA I get 15Mb down and 2.5Mb up which is more than enough for my needs.

Maybe when data is cheap and I have the need to tether devices then I might be concerned about LTE but I suspect that is a few years away yet.

They are in the UK store now as well

however $580nz for a 16gig one :(

which would be close to 750 by time it landed in NZ

Or use the UK Play Store.  That has the D821 version as well.  In my cart the 32GB version comes to 349 pounds including shipping to Youshop UK.  Just note it doesn't ship until 8th Nov and its at least a 10 day turnaround after that, plus Youshop UK costs, plus GST (no way to avoid that this time around).  So all up likely to land for around NZ $850 give or take.  Not cheap, but likely cheaper than it will be should a NZ retailer bring it in.

Put an order through over an hour ago on the US play store using unblock-us but am still waiting for the confirmation email. Said it would send the confirmation in 15 minutes. Think I may have missed out?? Said it was going to ship on 8th November.

Not too worried about no LTE, 3g is fast enough for me.

Edit: Just got confirmation through. Will probably be 3 weeks till it arrives via youshop. Ditching my Iphone 5 so looking forward to getting rid of IOs!
