I have just purchased a N5 from Google Play AD.

Off to the US later in December and wonder if this would work?

It doesn't I guess I can give it to my daughter who has the N4.

k14: Phone arrived this morning! So nice. Really happy. Bit strange getting used to no buttons on the front but will be ok in a few days. Only issues is that case and nano sim adaptor hasn't arrived yet! So only using it on wifi so far.

The N5 takes a micro-sim rather than a nano - so you'll need an adaptor.

I got a nano from work on Friday to fire up my new device then found out it wasn't a 4G one - so now I'm waiting for Telecom to send the 4G micro out.

Sigh. If only I knew these phones would be available in NZ so soon! Back when I got my first Nexus (HTC Nexus One), these phones were unheard of here so getting them from USA was the best option. I'm starting to realise that we actually have it pretty good here. Yes having the Google Play store access would be perfect but even then, it's not so bad. 2degrees have the phones at a decent price and there are heaps of options available through other means. I ordered my 32GB Nexus 5 from the USA Play Store minutes after release and I still haven't got it. It arrived in NZ on the 13th of this month but is still with customs. By the time I get it, it would have costed me about $650 anyway I think. Would have been easier to just buy one off Trademe.

Hence the reason why I ordered and am still waiting for my nano sim adaptor to arrive...

Loving the screen size. Only downside so far is that I can't reach the browser tabs button with my thumb in chrome. So have to hold the phone with two hands or use other hand when I want to do that.

Be really careful with adaptors, They sometimes get caught on the contacts and rip them out.

Just go into your providers shop and get them to change your account to a proper microsim

Finally got my grubby hands on the device, thankfully it appears to be free from the occasional defects that people are complaining about so far - would suck having to send it back to the US for a replacement

What kind of defects we talking about here?

I would like to check mine through when I receive it (hopefully soon)

I made the critical mistake of checking the CPU binning of my Nexus 5. The bins go from 0-6 and mine is PVS 1, being second worst. A little part of me died inside when I found out.

If anyone else is silly enough to do same same (I'd be interested in the distribution here in NZ), there are instructions over at xda (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2515593).

Not sure which hand you are using, but you can just drag down anywhere on the title bar to open the tabs view - or slide the title bar sideways to switch tabs.

Not bad - just a shame it doesn't use the standard micro-usb connector for the charging cable.

Don't get too worried about it, but there have been a few reports of yellow tinted screens, issues with the vibration motor causing a chirping sound, and a few people have complained about screen bleed.

Also, does anyone here have or has ordered a wireless Qi charger? Any recommendations?

I've ordered an owlpad car charger along with a desk charger, will let you all know how it works out when it turns up.

Considering grabbing one for work too so i can do the lumia 920 as well.

Google has a coming soon qi charger listed on the play store, no specs as yet but could be interesting....

How is everyones battery holding up after a couple of days. Mine is disappointingly erratic, doesn't last a day with light to moderate usage.

Granted I am coming off a iPhone so still getting used to the myriad of ways battery can be drained on a Android, and I hear after a few full discharge / recharge the capacity of the phone stabilises.

Lovely phone though.

2 days 11 hours with about 7% left.

Somewhat light usage , some texting , some maps , lots of changing wallpaper and playing with the camera.
