Any idea how long it takes for them to dispatch an order?

You should have got an order number and link to the tracking site.

Please PM me the order # if you need it followed up or call 0800 022022 if it's urgent or 200 from a 2degrees phone and they'll be able to help.

I never received a tracking id but the phone arrived yesterday! Beautiful device, loving it. Also tracking down a wireless charger at the moment.

Retyping all this as it got lost when I went to submit the post grrrr ...

My previous phone was a Galaxy S2 that was customised with a hybrid AOSP/Samsung ROM.  I have been waiting for the Nexus 5 as a replacement for it for a few months.  I thought I would share my thoughts of the Nexus 5 now that I have had it for a few days.  I have changed the kernel to Franco R14 which has some benefits over stock so my experience is based on that.

  • My main worry was that the battery would not last as long but I am finding that it is lasting 3-4 times as long as I am used to on old phone with all the same apps installed.
  • The look and feel of the black model doesn't look budget if you ask me - the almost rubbery feel makes it easy to hold the phone without it being slippery.  Makes it harder to get out of your pocket as it grips the lining but I would rather have a phone that is harder to drop or fall out of pocket.
  • The phone is super-fast and smooth in the user interface.
  • Having 4G is awesome.  It is multiple times faster than WiFi and apps that access cloud data or browsing is almost instant.
  • The quality of camera pictures is way better than my last phone.  I really only use a phone camera for taking pictures to post to social media etc - its not a replacement for a standalone camera.  Lots of reviews seem to be very picky about image quality that most people wouldn't even notice if using it for the same thing I do.  The camera app UI is not the easiest to use though.
  • The dialer app with the ability to type a business name (that is not in your contacts) and have it come back with nearby matching places ready to dial is a great feature.  No more searching in browser or maps app then finding the number and transferring to dialer.
  • The screen resolution is a lot better than my old phone making everything so clear.  More importantly, it is far easier to see outside in bright light compared to AMOLED display on old phone
Overall I am very happy with the phone.  I am glad I waited for this and didn't buy another Galaxy phone.

For anyone using Fitbit products and the Nexus 5. If you have trouble syncing your fitbit to your phone or any Nexus device there is a problem with the Fitbit device.
Quick solution is tg download the XDA fitbit replacement. Unload the stock fitbit client and add in the XDA one and all works again. I am sure Fitibit will fix eventually but I did not want to wait

How are people finding using "hangouts" for SMS? Or are you not?

For me - I hate it! Especially the fact that it is refusing to match most phone numbers to my contacts. I know I can "fix" it or work around it - but as far as I am concerned it should just work.

I am looking at installing another SMS app to do the job properely.
Does anyone have recommendations on a good SMS app?

Thanks :)

Which store would be the best one in the Auckland area to call ahead to put a phone aside and pick up tomorrow? I called Albany 2 degrees and Warehouse Stationary Wairau Park and neither of the people I spoke too had any idea of when stock was coming back in.

On another note, I can't wait to send off my trusty HTC Sensation as it is on its last legs. This upgrade is going to be awesome  :D!

They are running a beta for the nexus 4/5/7 on 4.3/4 now, I am in it using a nexus 5 and fitbit flex and no problems at all.
