old3eyes: Motorola FB page finally came back saying it will be available in NZ but not when .
I see this morning that Amazon US has it listed for $199 but a but sketchy on what model it is.

Amazon are now listing all 4 variants for pre-order. Shipping date listed as December 11th so no way YouShop would get it here before the 25th if anyone wanted one as a present.

Thanx Steve. I see they only list the 8G Intl version. Actually when I click on the link I get "Moto G AWS- Unlocked - 8GB" which is the T-Mo version.

That's odd, I see 4 options, and they've changed the wording on the options in the last half hour or so too.

16 or 8GB "Global GSM" and 16 or 8 GB "US GSM

Moto G

I can see they've added the Global GSM version too. It has to be shipped via YouShop. Price from the USA is around NZ$250 plus I guess around $40 for youshop, so around NZ$290, and it probably wouldn't arrive before Christmas. Price from the UK is $310 shipped directly to New Zealand, arriving around 15 Dec.

So long as the version for sale by Amazon UK is compatible with NZ (850/900/2100 which it doesn't explicitly say) then I think that's a better option right now.

US YouShop to NZ should be no more that about $27 based on my experiences.

Yeah there was no guarantee it would be here by then anyway - and my wife won't mind.

Hey guys,

The Moto G I had ordered for my mothers birthday arrived today, naturally being an overseas model I had a cheeky look inside to make sure everything was in order :) Many of you have probably seen a lot of this already, but here it is anyway.

Here we have the box, it was surprisingly thin, maybe only 3cm

Same again but the back
Moto G Comparison Back

Quick and dirty width comparison. The Moto G has a slightly curved back which is why it isn't completely flat. It is about on par with the 920's thickness.
Moto G Comparison - Thickness

In the hand it actually feels a fraction heavier than the SGSIII (my daily driver). This gives me a good impression as far as build quality goes.

One thing to note is that the box doesn't actually include a plug in wall charger - only a USB cable. Being a UK device the wall charger was not going to be much use anyway, but it is perhaps something to keep in mind if you are looking to buy one.

I dare not turn it on at this stage so I'll wrap things up here for now, let me know if you have any questions! Overall I'm extremely impressed at this stage though - in the photos you would never know it cost about a third of what those other 3 phones typically cost.

Cheers

Non of the Moto Gs have plug packs as Motorola assumes you already have plenty..

Where'd you get yours from? Clove right, the 8GB? Good to hear it's looking good :)

I am on 2d, should i therefore get the global gsm version? I go to the U.S twice a month and should be going there next week. I have a US mailbox and will be ordering off Amazon since I haven't had problems with credit cards.
