jbard: Anyone got this update on the Moto G 2 yet?

Yes I noted earlier. I bought that version for my son from Amazon and the update arrived an hour so after he unboxed it and connected it up.  Maybe different IMEI ranges from US and NZ sold units?

I've got it on my NZ sourced G 2, but I forced it with the OTA release I linked previously.

OK, so I installed Lollipop on my Moto G.  It's a 2013 (XT1033), on 2degrees.
I got a warning about insufficient storage, so I uninstalled NZHerald, and then all went well.
Took about 15 mins download, plus 15 mins install time.
Phone seems fine, with a nicer, more responsive UI.

Wade - let us know what the much anticipated lollipop is like please!
I've been burnt updating before but I'm hoping this will be a big improvement.

Cheers man

OTA Update worked exactly as expected with no issue, 377mb download, took about 15 minutes to update, needed to update google play services straight after plus a handful of other apps.
phone definitely feels a lot smoother than i remember and i suspect the memory management is far better optimized as that delay seems to have disappeared

I gave my moto g2 to my 9yo once the Lollipop update became available for my GPe'd HTC One so I haven't really been using the moto for a while, Motorola's implementation (much like the g2's KitKat) look's to be 99.9% pure google which is awesome, It feels like a decent improvement in all the right areas, don't expect it to be worlds apart to 4.4.4, its more akin to driving a newer facelift version of your favourite car, its almost the same but just that little bit better in a number of areas that count

The real test will be in a day or two when we will see if it has slowed down to the point it needs rebooting as was often the case with 4.4.4 on the g2

What's the verdict on lollipop team?

Even my 9yo is commenting on how much better her phone is no

It just feels so much more smoother and slicker. On KitKat it always felt like an uphill struggle once you had a few apps own but now it just seems to handle multi tasking so much better

I love it, I was ready to throw my Moto G v2 in the bin before Lollipop came out due to the memory management problems, but since Lollipop has gone on it it's been a completely different phone. I also really like the new notification system, it makes it much easier to see at a glance what's going on.

You're typing with Josh!

My mother has the Moto G 2nd Gen, and received the update notification 30 minutes ago and installed it, looks awesome and amazing! though the downside, I have the Moto G 4G version and I wait to the day that notification pops up on my screen.

Anyone with a 4G Moto G received lollipop?

That's a big negative Josh. Nothing still (am on VF). Checking via OTA and Motorola Device Manager. May log a call with VF to see if they know any timelines...or if they know anything at all...

The Moto G is not carrier dependent so you should get the update..

Hey Marty,

Vodafone NZ did not range the Moto G, so we have no involvement in the software update process. Same goes for every other device we don't range, like the Nexus line. :)

Cheers,
