I, like you, want to have offline music available on call. I have a Nexus 5 and use an ipod nano for music. Outside of music, all other phone-related data lives nicely in the cloud.

But the OP also said he didn't want a phablet.

I'd say go with bradstewart's recommendation from Page 1 of the thread - if you can wait until the end of March the "All New HTC One" (One+, One2? Personally I'm going with the Coke nomenclature: New One and Classic One) should meet all your requirements.
