OMGpjay: Bah, the waterproofing cover for my micro USB/3 slot doesn't clip closed anymore..

Anyone else with this issue? Anyone had to resolve this yet? It's only been a few months and I've only submerged it once in a jug of beer.

One of the reasons I went back to an S4 was because of that flap, it got in the way when trying to dock it, and it felt so fragile I'd wouldn't be surprised if others also have the same problem as you. With a slim waterproof case I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything by going back, my S4 even performs and benchmarks similar to the S5.

I'm glad I waited before rooting my S5. Newly discovered Linux kernel exploit allows you to gain root without tripping Knox.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783157

Tested on my S5. Root works and Knox counter intact.

This will work for every Android phone with a kernel built before June this year.

Yeah I just super glued the wee rubber clip that was causing the issue. Tested in the sink for a minute and she's still waterproof.

Wooo

Dont know if this belongs in S5 or S4 thread, But I installed Phoenix rom on my S4 i9505, It gives you most of the s5 features like ultra power saving mode on the s4, and the new theme etc

You also have to install this if you want all of them http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2789666

Hi all,

I just bought a Telecom variant of the Galaxy S5 earlier this week, and have been using it on Vodafone, but I seem to be unable to pick up 4G.  Initially I thought this was because I was on the prepay freebeedata plan and using a Telecom variant, but in the last couple of days I've switched to the $19 prepay plan (which specifically says it includes 4G) and flashed the VFNZ firmware (ANE2 variant) but still haven't had any luck picking up 4G.  As my previous phone was a US Nexus 5 (ie, D820), my sim card has never been on 4G before. Could this be the reason I'm not picking up 4G, or is there another reason? (Do I need to get Vodafone to enable it on my account or something?)  Any help is appreciated, as I've searched here and on google with no success.

If you're on the new $19 Prepay plan & it has kicked in, all should be well at this end. Could you double check your APN is set to 'vodafone' and not 'www.vodafone.net.nz' or similar?

Yea I've checked that the APN is set to 'vodafone' (I saw that in another thread on here).  A couple of mates reckon I need a new sim card, could this be true?  Are there any other network settings I should check?

You will not need a new SIM, that was just a Telecom thing. :)

Could you check the network mode under Settings/More Networks/Mobile Networks is set to LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)?

Yep, I've checked that as well.  I tried switching it to WCDMA/GSM and back but that didn't help either.  Sorry to be a bother; are there other settings I should check?  Does my vodafone account need to have 4G enabled?

Do you live somewhere with 4g coverage?

Yabanize is quite right - Coverage would be a helpful thing to check! Whereabouts are you located? Check out the 4G coverage map here.

If you're within a coverage area & still have no joy, please send me a private message with your mobile number & 4 digit PIN, & I'll have the team check it out for you. :)

Cheers,

I've tried both at home and work, both of which are within coverage (flat mate gets 4G at home, and work is across the rd from Victoria Park so should be plenty of coverage).  I'll PM you, cheers.

I see some earlier discussions on wireless charging, anyone had any experiences with 3rd part QI charges and inserts or is it better to go with samsung charging cover
