Hey

So I'm picking up a new SM-G900I S5 tomorrow from WHS.  Is there anything I can do to disable knox, so I can flash custom roms etc, without tripping knox?  On the S4 it was recommended to stay on 4.2 then disable knox, then upgrade to custom 4.4 based roms.  Is there any such procedure for the s5?

Thanks

you can't disable knox but can circumvent it with old bootloader on S4 and be on 4.4.2.  just rooted and flashed custom Rom so have tripped knox but not worried about it. Got tired of tiptoeing around knox on S4 and have n't had any warranty issues on Samsung nor would I think it would be an issue with the CGA if you can prove it wasn't due to flashing but its a risk one takes.

Have a read up on XDA as you can root without tripping

Battery life is really good compared to S4, I bought another battery but hardly use it. I keep a lot of the bloat on now where I used to switch it off although location always goes off, its quite intrusive.

Have Spark released the ANG9 update for the G900F yet? VF and 2Deg have had it for weeks.

I have a crazy annoying issue with my 16GB 900F where occasionally, say 1-2 a day, if I try and switch the screen on using the home button, the capacitive buttons light up, the screen goes black and nothing happens. The only way to get it working is to use the power button to switch it off again and then use the power button again (briefly not full power down/reboot).

Anyone else seen this, and know what's causing it? I have done a factory reset and I am using the default TW interface etc.

Mine does that at random times too.

Doesn't bother me too much but interesting that somebody else has the same issue.

seems it was an issue for some early on but looks like updates may have fixed it. The thread is here

This is the bootloader and modem they recommended to fix the problem based on that post above. Would installing either of those trip knox or void my warranty etc?

A lot of people said replacement motherboard fixed it.

I stand corrected here but since it would need to be done with Odin it won't trip Knox. If it were software it would be better to flash latest software or last kitkat update stock from sammobile via Odin as that won't trip knox.

May just wait for the S6 or Lollipop.
