I would like to stream my tablet (Sony Xperia Z tablet) to my HDTV(Panasonic Viera 65ST). I'm hoping there is a simple HDMI dongle I can plug into my TV? Thanks in advance.

If you are just wanting to stream movies etc and not "mirror" your tablet to the panel, you could look at app based options like.....

jarledb: Have you looked at Google Chromecast?

http://www.google.com/intl/nz/chrome/devices/chromecast/

One of the main reasons I want this for is TVNZ & TV3 on demand - so I can mirror picture/sound to the tv. Currently, I connect my laptop via hdmi cable, but I'd like to switch to the tablet and preferably stream, not use cables. I don't think Chrome would support this?

Anyone?? I'm hoping there is a HDMI dongle - similar to the Chromecast, but not as restrictive - that might do the trick? cheers

AFAIK you cannot stream/mirror tvnz or Tv3 apps. It says so in the FAQ. Reason is something to do with broadcast rights etc

Chromecast sounds like the best idea.
Google recently released the full API for it and more and more functionality will emerge as the indie devs develop it.
