I fecking hate that import transaction fee. Nothing but a money grab that you have no option to pay.

26% Ministry of Social Development
17% Ministry of Health
15% Ministry of Education
8% IRD
6% Treasury
6% MBIE
5% Ministry of Transport
4% Ministry of Defence

Hey guys,

I have a small question. I read the whole thread and all about the tax thing. First where did you guys find the limit of 400$ ? And am I right with the assumption that the 28 NZ $ from YouShop have to be added to the value of the product ? (i.e. current exchange rate would be 299 US$ = 388 NZ$ = 28 NZ $ = 416 NZ $) Therefore I would be higher than the 400$ and i had to pay, right?
Should I just lower the US $ price in order to get under the 400$ mark ? (for example 283 US $ = 365 NZD + 28$ = 393 NZD) And do you have an idea what happens if customs find out about the real price?

Thanks guys :)

This page is helpful. It lets you calculate whether or not you will have to pay a customs charge.

Ah, thanks!

And there is still no receipt within the package? So no proof of how much I paid inside the package?

Annoyingly I dropped my one what damaged the silver surround.
Has anyone going a place to get spares for the One yet?

I'm debating the merits of a 64GB OnePlus One versus a LG G3 - the locally-sourced OnePlus one is more expensive than a locally-sourced G3, so from a cost perspective I'd be purchasing one from o/s (which still comes with a risk of being pinged with duty...). Given the lack of warranty on an overseas-sourced model, I'm totally unsure as to which to go for (my wife's not too keen on me buying one without CGA coverage!) - has anyone got any strong views on which is the better phone? While I like the idea of a bit of tinkering, the fully customisable nature of the One isn't essential to me.
