HMM right I see, better to get a non-telco one.
Updates from Samsung directly...

All parallel import shops should have non branded phones in nz

Does anyone know if Harvey Norman , Jb Hifi have Note 4?

They also have non branded one's usually.

There's not really such a thing as a global, non-branded Samsung device - if they don't have operator-specific software (And all NZ variants will be from either 2d, Vodafone, or Spark stock - we're not a big enough country to have an 'open market' variant like the UK and Australia do), they will still have region-specific software and receive updates in accordance with that region's schedule. Worth checking out the country of origin if purchasing parallel-imported devices, as Singapore, Poland, the Netherlands, and the UK generally receive the fastest updates globally.

Locally, 2d and Vodafone variants generally have very little customisation, while Spark has a little more. While they'll all work on all three networks as the hardware is identical (SM-N910U Octa-Core Exynos), it's still recommended to get the variant for the network you intend to use it on for the sake of APNs and baseband firmware optimisation, et cetera.

Watch out for Noel Leemings... Their website seems to indicate that they still haven't actually got any stock.

They had no qualms about taking my order and telling me that they would have it on release day yet on that day told me it was at least 2 weeks away but that they didn't know when they would get them.

Just sayin'.

Cheers  N

PBTech is the best place I reckon. It would be interesting to know their source

Noel Leeming had stocks in Wairau. I had a play with the floor model and have to say the screen is super impressive. Really strong colours and gorgeous resolution. Touchwiz did not lag much but as with Samsung usual occasional lag home screen scrolling. Lovely phone, wish it was water proof!
