Rappelle:
mahdibassam:
Rappelle: How does rooting and custom roms affect S-Pen usage? I am guessing a custom rom will make it 100% useless? I really want to root as I have done with all of my previous devices, but tripping knox is something I'm not sure I want to do considering it voids warranty. Hoping a method comes out that doesn't trip it.

It does not affect the functionality of any part of the phone, including the S-Pen, it would be useless if it did.

Don't hold your breath though, its unlikely to see a method come out without tripping knox , Note 3 has been out for a year now and still hasn't seen it.

So you're saying I could flash Cyanogenmod for example, and still have use of the S-Pen including features such as Air Command etc? How about multi tasking? I am feeling kind of doubtful in both respects.

No, thats not what i am saying at all. you asked if Rooting affect Spen , and i said no, it doesnt.

What you said is installing custom rom , like cyanognmod, not rooting. If you install custom roms that are not based on samsung's firmware (like CyanogenMod) you WILL lose Spen, Multi windows, and all other samsung features.

I went in store to have a look at the note 4. I did like the overall look and feel of it. But one thing I am not sure about is the version that we are getting here in nz. I saw that we are getting the 1.9ghz octa core version - which I assume is the Exynos version. I saw a few reviews that said the exynos version doesnt have as good battery as the Snapdragon version.

Just want to know how is the battery life for everyone (those who got the NZ version from Vodafone, telecom or 2 degrees).

Anyone heard any info or solid goss about the Samsung Galaxy NOTE EDGE???

Vodafone seems to think they wont be getting it & havnt heard of NZ getting it. Samsung NZ wont confirm or deny anything when asked...

The Note Edge is the only reason I havent already upgraded to the Note 4.

Its available in Japan & Korea, USA release is very soon, China & Aussie is this month too.
Also heard Russia, India & Colombia are getting it

Have seen it for Pre-Order on 3 parallel importer sites, but most articles are warning against pre-orders in case of supply issues  undecided

The Note Edge is a limited edition phone, they aren't going to waste units in our market.

NZ is not getting the Note Edge as far as I know.

There is an open market variant for Australia, which would likely be the best bet assuming it doesn't have the same silly restrictions as other Galaxy S & Note devices for AU (Unable to change the dock icons et cetera).

Does anyone have a working link for Odin? I can't find a link that provides a download that actually opens

I have the same problem when I need it in a hurry. Grab one of the Chainfire Auto-Root packages, the zip file has Odin and its .ini file inside. 3.07, I believe, although 3.09 is newer it's not needed unless you have really borked something and need to erase the efs partition.

Finally got it sorted and rooted. Loving this phone so far. Amazingly it feels like a really good step up from the 3.

Any idea how to remove  S Finder and Quick Connect from the notification drop down? Takes up unwanted space.

Wanam Xposed has an option to do that. You'll need to install Xposed Installer first though.

Wicked done.

Now, final question, any idea how to change the software key from multi window back to settings? Annoying change.

Still waiting on mine that I paid for during their labour weekend sale.  Called this morning and apparently no stock anywhere and no ETA on the stock.

anyone know of the best deal on the note 4 at the moment? are there any differences between the different telco versions - usually there is none but prudent to check. also, i heard that the telcos were locking their phones, but those phones are the ones on plans so shouldnt affect the high end devices right?

 - No-one is locking Notes locally
 - It's always recommended to get the variant intended for the network you're using, but all three variants will work on all three networks as they're the same hardware
 - Best deal depends on your needs & whether you're buying outright/interest-free/on a term plan :)
